Sixshot Bits: Brief News On Mos Def, Killer Mike And GhostfacePosted: 11/14/2007 3:43:19 PM by Black widow Mos Def will be holding a concert in celebration of the late producer J Dilla (Jay Dee) in Detroit in January. According to The Detroit Free Press, the concert will take place on January 21st at Ann Arbor’s Hill Auditorium and the rapper will backed by his group, The Mos Def Big Band. Tickets for the event are available via www.ums.org. Dilla, born James Dewitt Yancey, died from lupus complications in 2006. ON A NEW TEAM Former Outkast affiliate Killer Mike and his Atlanta based label, Grind Time Official, have teamed up with Bay Area based record label, SMC Recordings.
The first release from their alliance will be the second installment of Killer Mike’s Pledge series titled I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II. I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II is slated for release in 2008 and will feature appearances from 8 Ball and MJG, UGK and Trae, among others. PEEP MY WORDS Ghostface’s book, The World According to Pretty Toney, which was initially slated for release next month, will now hit shelves on January 8th.
As reported earlier, the book was inspired by his popular MTV2 skits and will give readers advice from everything from gambling to education.
According to MTV, the book will come with a 'bonus CD with 20 minutes of Pretty Toney tunes related to the themes in the book'. Ghostface will be releasing his latest album titled Th eBig Dough Rehab on December 4th. The album will feature appearances from DJ Kid Capri, Styles P and Beanie Sigel, among others. |
