50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Cassidy are among various rappers who will take part in KRS One’s 2007 ‘Stop The Violence  Movement’ campaign.

KRS launched the campaign in 1989 by uniting with key rappers from that era to create the anthem “Self Destruction”, which denounced black on black violence.

The legendary rapper has now re-launched the ‘Stop The Violence  Movement’ campaign in response to the increasing acts of  violence in communities.

“We are in a state of emergency—school shootings, nooses being hung from trees, domestic violence, gang violence, police brutality and war.  In the midst of mass turmoil the Hip Hop community cannot afford to stand still,” KRS said in a statement. 

“As Rick Ross has said, ‘it's time for us to be leaders and not followers’.  We must use our influence to raise awareness, heal and move toward truth and solutions,” he continued.  “We are going to make a change.  We are going to build a brighter future.  Be part of it.  Apathy is no longer an option.  Let's stop the violence.

For the 2007 ‘Stop The Violence Movement’ campaign, KRS along with 50 Cent , Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Chingy, Rick Ross and Cassidy will be featured in public service announcements (PSAs) calling for the youth and greater community at large to "Stop the Violence."

Other rappers on board for the movement include Channel Live, Doug E Fresh, Immortal Technique and Lil' Dude.

“We will have an ongoing presence with celebrity audio and visual PSAs, lectures, youth programs, a CD- soundtrack and film,” KRS said.  “A new 'Stop the Violence' Hip Hop anthem is in the works.”
