SIXSHOT.COM INTERVIEWS
Juelz Santana - Enjoying Diplomatic ImmunityArticle by: emm When Cam’Ron came back into the game on the Roc, he didn’t come alone – his crew, the Diplomats were with him. One of the members of the diplomats, Juelz Santana (which the ladies on Sixshot just dig for his look), is about to release an album soon. Reason enough to holla at him and talk to him a couple of seconds. Hey yo, how you doin’? This is Sixshot.com. Juelz, how you feelin'? I’m okay, just chillin’ in NY, man, getting’ ready to drop my album on August 19th. What's the title of the album? It’s titled “From Me To You”, man. It’s nothing but Juelz Santana, man. I think it’s like a true Juelz Santana thing, man, this is just me, it’s me doing an album. Well, speaking of you, being on a team with the Diplomats and having Roc-A-Fella as a label must be the best base to start from, right? Yes, of course it is, Diplomats and the Roc are great, but I been here before, you know what I am saying, like I done a 360 right now, I been with the Roc before, man, but of course it’s great. The album, actually, is just gonna be me, man, just Juelz, know what I am saying? A propos the Diplomats: How is it to work with Cam’Ron? I mean is he like an older brother and pushing you to the limit or does he let you guys do what you want? He’s pushing us but letting us do at the same time. He pushes us to work hard and go for our limits, but at the same time letting us do what we wanna do, especially as far as the music’s concerned. Don't you think that it is hard to step out of the shadow of someone like Cam? I mean, when he brings you guys up, you always gonna be "his" guys, like people always will compare you and him! Yes, it is hard kinda, but you gotta see, we’re all different. Like, for me, Juelz Santana, I’m going differently, I got a different style, you know, and I’m young. What’s this difference like? What does make you unique and special in the game? It’s just that I’m able to go different, you know what I am saying? Just that I move back and forth and stop and go. Like with the flow? Exactly, man. What do you think about rap nowadays? You being more on the young side of hip hop, what do you think is the game gonna be in a couple of years? From my point hip hop is gonna be bigger and bigger, you know, like since Eminem came into the game, all doors broke up. You know like 50 Cent just came in and ain’t here long, it’s gonna be bigger and bigger in the future. Do you think that the commercial side of hip hop still is original and inventive or do you think they just copy and bite from each other? It’s always the same thing, they [=people] love and hate the commercial stuff, it’s just a circle, you know, it’s just that they want something, and then they hate it and want something else, that’s nothing new. Juelz, hands down, would you have made it in this game without the Diplomats, without Cam? Well, I don’t know, the situation would have been different, but like I already said, you know, I’m still me, I’d be me without them or with them. Now what the situation would be like I don’t know, but they sure helped me a lot. The other situation, well, no one knows. Future Projects and things you would like to achieve? Oh, I just want to move forward, man, like on everything I do, I wanna move forward. I just wanna move forward instead of backwards with everything. Juelz, now something completely different: the ladies on Sixshot.com voted you the best-looking MC. Do you feel as a sex symbol? Well, if that’s what the ladies wanna call me then I’ma be that, man, ‘cause I love the ladies, man. And your shout outs and another word on your album: Shout out to Harlem New York, the Diplomats, man, the whole Roc-A-Fella team and all you fans out there, man. Go cop my album “From Me To You” on August 19th, it’s gonna be a true and straight Juelz Santana thing and I consider it a gift, that’s why it’s called “From Me To You”, go cop it, man, August 19th. One. Thanks. Well, it seems like the youngster is on the move. So go check it on August 19th - "From Me To You"! |
