Update: Remy Ma Files Appeal, Claims Judge Made Mistakes During TrialPosted: 11/21/2008 9:14:17 AM by Jaymo Jailed rapper Remy Ma wants to be out of prison for the hoildays and her lawyer's have reportedly filed an appeal in hopes to make her wish come true. As reported earlier, Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years behind bars last year for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an argument. According to TMZ, Remy's lawyers claim that the judge who presided over the case made countless mistakes during the trial. "The trial court wrongly instructed the jury over defense objection, that if it found Makeda Barnes-Joseph was ‘truthful and accurate’ then her testimony under the law satisfies the proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” Rem’s lawyer wrote in the appeal documents. “ [Remy] was unfairly prejudiced by the inclusion in the indictment of counts regarding the violent gang assault at the Player’s Club, as to which there was no evidence to her complicity, but which likely colored the jury’s consideration of the remaining counts." Remy is not eligible for parole until September 2014. |
