New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne submitted his DNA in a Manhattan courthouse yesterday (May 14) in his pending gun possesion case.

As reported earlier, a .40 caliber handgun was found by authorities in Lil  Wayne’s tour bus last July following a performance with Ja Rule at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre.

According to The New York Post,  authorities claim that DNA was found on the .40 caliber handgun, Prosecutors asked a judge to order Lil Wayne  to submit his DNA to test if it matched the sample found on the gun.

Lil Wayne reportedly swabbed his own cheeks with a cotton swab in a hallway in the courthouse under the monitioring of a detective. It will takes two to three weeks to get the test results back.

Lil Wayne has plead not guilty to the two felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He faces  up to three and a half years in prison due to New York’s strict gun laws.
