Update: Remy Ma's Sentencing PostponedPosted: 4/22/2008 12:17:06 PM by Black widow Bronx rapper Remy Ma will have to wait until next month to learn her fate for shooting an acquaintance outside a Manhattan nightspot in 2007. As reported earlier, Remy was convicted by a Manhattan jury last month on charges of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen. The shooting occurred while the two women were arguing over money that Remy claimed was taken from her purse by Barnes-Joseph. Remy was scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow (April 23) but her lawyer, Ivan Fisher, revealed to Billboard today (April 22 ) that he asked for the rapper’s sentencing to be postponed because he needs more time to prepare a sentencing submission. Remy, who has been held without bail at Rikers Island since her conviction, will now be sentenced on May 13th. She faces up to 25 years behind bars. |
