Busta Rhymes Affilate Spliff Star Busted In Sweden On Suspicion Of Drug Possession

Flipmode Squad member and Busta Rhymes affiliate Spliff Star was reportedly arrested on suspicion of drug possession in Sweden yesterday (May 11).

According to The Associated Press, Spliff Star (born William Lewis) was taken into custody early Sunday after a performance with Busta Rhymes in Stockholm.

Authorities claim that they found an unidentified substance in Spliff's hotel room. Busta Rhymes' room was also searched but no drugs were found.

Police spokeswoman Lotta Larsson revealed today (May 13) that Spliff Starr was released after leaving a urine sample for drug testing.

Spliff faces fines or up to six months behind bars if it is concluded he broke a drug law.

Update: Remy Ma's Jail Wedding Called Off, Papoose Found With Handcuff Key

The wedding ceremony for rappers Remy Ma and Papoose which was scheduled to take place at New York's Rikers Correctional Facility yesterday (May 12) was reportedly called off after jail officials found Papoose with a handcuff key.

According to a jail official who spoke to The New York Daily News, the key that Papoose came with to Rikers Island could easily open handcuffs that are used by other jail officials in the institution.

Papoose voluntarily surrendered the key and will not be able to return to Rikers Island for six months.

Calls to Papoose and his representatives inquiring about the situation were not answered.

Remy has been held without bail at Rikers Island since being convicted by a Manhattan jury in March on charges of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen.

PETA Urges Arizona Authorities To Put DMX Behind Bars

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are urging Arizona authorities to put DMX behind bars for animal cruelty charges he picked up last week.

As reported earlier, DMX's house was raided in August 2007 after authorities were tipped that dogs were being abused on his property.

12 malnourished and scarred pit bulls would be found on DMX's property including the remains of three dogs.

DMX, who wasn't at the house during the raid, was not formally charged until last week. The Yonkers bred rapper was arrested and charged with seven misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

In a statement posted on its website yesterday (May 12), PETA urges visitors to contact and demand Maricopa County Attorney Andrew P. Thomas to put DMX behind bars and ban the rapper from owning animals.

“[DMX] appears to be either unable or unwilling to provide even the most basic care for animals,” the statement read. “People who demonstrate such blatant disregard for life and desensitization to suffering can pose a serious risk to all animals—including humans—with whom they come into contact.”

PETA also wants DMX to undergo a thorough psychological evaluation followed by mandatory counseling.

Prodigy Drops Video Collection For H.N.I.C. Part 2

Mobb Deep's Prodigy will be releasing a DVD containing videos of songs from his latest album H.N.I.C. Part 2 this summer.

The DVD, titled H.N.I.C. Part 2: The Video Collection, will also feature exclusive footage and videos for songs that never made the album including “The Dough”, “Get Trapped,” “Represent Me” and “When I See You” featuring Cormega.

Prodigy, who is currently serving a 3 ½ year sentence on weapons charges, shot the videos before his incarceration.

“In the few months before he went in, he didn't do too much recording. He was more in video mode. Seemed like he was just shooting a new video everyday,” explained Mobb Deep affiliate The Alchemist via a statement. “He was more like, 'let me get this video shot,' and before he knew it, he'd filmed a video for every song. Up until the last day, he was filming!”

H.N.I.C. Part 2: The Video Collection will hit shelves on June 17th.

Update: Remy Ma Gets 8 Years Behind Bars For Shooting, Papoose Looses His Lid

Bronx rapper Remy Ma was today (May 13) sentenced to 8 years in prison for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightspot last year.

As reported earlier, Remy was convicted by a Manhattan jury in March on charges of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen.

The shooting occurred while the two women were arguing over money that Remy claimed was taken from her purse by Barnes-Joseph.

According to The Associated Press, Remy was teary eyed when the sentence was handed down to her. The rapper plans to appeal the verdict.

Remy's fiancé, fellow rapper Papoose, reportedly exchanged hard looks and harsh words with Barnes-Joseph in a hallway in the courtroom after the sentencing and had to be restrained by his entourage. Court officials would usher Papoose out of the court room.

Remy and Papoose were slated to marry at New York's Rikers Correctional Facility yesterday (May 12 ) but the ceremony was called off after jail officials found Papoose with a handcuff key they claimed could easily open handcuffs that are used by officials in the institution. Remy has been held without bail at Rikers since her conviction.

Papoose voluntarily surrendered the key and will not be able to return to Rikers Island for six months.

Remy Ma's lawyer, Ivan Fisher, denied Tuesday that Papoose’s key could unlock handcuffs. Papoose has not been charged.

Fisher also revealed that the rap couple still plan to wed after Remy Ma is transferred to an upstate prison.
