A lawyer representing G-Unit member Tony Yayo revealed today(January 10) that he  plans to have his client's assault charges dropped after prosecutors divulged  that the rapper's associate admitted to slapping the 14-year-old son of Game’s manager, Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond.

Yayo was charged in March 2007 with assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly attacking James Rosemond on a New York street with his entourage.  Yayo plead not guilty to the charges and is free on $5,000 bail.

According to The Associated Press, Assistant District Attorney Daryl Reed told Judge Neil E. Ross in a hearing Thursday that Yayo's associate, Lowell Fletcher, admitted to police during an interview in August 2007 that he slapped Rosemond and that Yayo pulled him away from the boy.

Reed told the court that his office learnt about Fletcher giving police a statement last week.

“They disclosed it today, and we plan to file a motion for dismissal,” said Scott Leemon, Yayo’s lawyer.

Fletcher is currently serving a 2 1/2-year sentence for drug possession.

“Although the statement is harmful to my client, it seems that Tony Yayo really didn't do anything but pull him (Fletcher) off this kid,” said Fletcher's lawyer, Robert Macedonio.

Judge Ross set a trial date for March 31 but told both sides to file motions regarding Fletcher’s statement before then.
