Mississippi rapper David Banner, Idris Elba of The Wire fame and Oscar winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. have been reportedly cast to play members of the New York legendary rap collective The Juice Crew in the upcoming independent film based on the rap crew called The Vapors.
The Juice Crew was formed in the mid 80’s by Mr. Magic and DJ Marley Marl and its other members included Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shanté, MC Shan, Craig G, Tragedy Khadafi, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, Masta Ace, TJ Swan and Cool V.
According to Blackfilm.com, Banner will play Biz Markie, Cuba will play Marley Marl and Elba will play Fly Ty.
Evan Ross and Jackie Long, well known for their roles in ATL, will play MC Shan and Big Daddy Kane, respectively.
As reported earlier, actress Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee) will play Roxanne Shanté while Clifton Powell (Ray) will play Mr. Magic.
