Xzibit has reportedly landed a role in the second big-screen adaptation of the popular  TV series X –Files.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Xzibit will play an FBI agent alongside the series’ main characters,  Fox Mulder (played by David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson).

The film, which is expected to hit theaters in July 2008, will be a stand alone story and not a sequel or a continuation of the series’ 1998 big screen adaptation.

Chris Carter, the creator of the series, will direct the project.  Production of the flick will begin in Vancouver this month and details surrounding the film’s plot were not released.

Xzibit was initially attached to star in the war movie Pinkville alongside Bruce Willis  and Woody Harrelson, but the flick's production was halted because of the ongoing writer’s strike.
