Steven Acevedo, the man who claims he was assaulted by Sean “Diddy” Combs outside an afterparty last weekend, appeared in a New York court Thursday (October 18) to face charges of faking a police placard.
According to The New York Daily News, Acevedo was arrested in August by a policeman who noticed a forged NYPD placard on the window of his car.
Acevedo reportedly sat quietly as the case was adjourned to November 27th for either a trial or a plea. He faces up to a year in jail for the misdemeanor charge.
As reported earlier, Acevedo accuses Diddy of punching him twice in the face after they got into an argument over a woman outside the Kiosk store in New York on Saturday night (October 13).
Acevedo claims that when he tried to retaliate, one of Diddy’s bodyguards reached for his waist as if going for a gun. He would leave the scene and head home where he called 911 and filed a report.
The attack would leave Acevedo with a fat lip and bloody nose. No charges have been filed against Diddy since the incident.
Diddy’s representatives tell the Daily News that both parties are working to settle the matter out of court.
