With the release of his third solo album on the horizon, Philly rapper Cassidy recently talked about his upcoming album titled B.A.R.S.
B.A.R.S stands for the Barry Adrian Reese Story, the rapper’s government name.
“I named it that because I’m known for sticking bars [rapping] and being behind bars,” Cassidy told The Associated Press.
Cassidy was convicted for involuntary manslaughter in January 2006 and five months after his release , he was involved in a near fatal accident.
“I talk about what I went through in the accident and what I went through in prison in a lot of the songs,” Cass explained about the material on B.A.R.S. “It won’t bring you down. It’s still fun. It’s big in the clubs, and you can have some fun, but it’s serious about what I went through.”
B.AR.S. is slated for release on October 23rd. The album will feature appearances from Angie Stone, John Legend, Beanie Sigel, Fabulous, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eve and Rell.
Producers on the CD include Swizz Beatz, Neo Da Matrix, Scott Storch, Timbaland and Cool and Dre.
