Philly's own The Roots are set to release their new album Game Theory on August 29th. The album will mark their debut release on Def Jam, the stomping ground for Jay-Hova, aka as Jay-Z, the label's chairman.
According to band leader ?uestlove, their new record, their eigth as a group, will be much darker than their previous work. Tracks on the new album include "It Don't Feel Right" and "Can't Stop," a tribute song to hip-hop producer J-Dilla, who passed away on February 2006.
Featured on three tracks will be former Roots rapper Malik B, who hasn’t been a full-time member with the group since the mid-1990s. A tour in support of the album will also occur, lasting until May 2007.
