Talib, Slum Village To Perform At CMJ ShowCase
Room Service Productions, the premier name in marketing and promotions, in conjunction with Goldmic and Ecko Unltd is bringing two of the finest names in Hip-Hop to the big bad city of NY for the CMJ (College Music Journal) 2004 Conference for Their 3rd Annual CMJ Showcase. This year the showcase is split into two action packed nights.
The first showcase, in conjunction with SOB’s Common Ground party, is Wednesday October 13th @ SOB's with Detroit's own Slum Village getting busy.
The second showcase, Thursday October 14th@ BB Kings, will no doubt be the biggest hip-hop show of the entire CMJ marathon. Geffen Recording artists Talib Kweli and RES along with Uncle Junior Records artists Kon and Amir will be rocking the house for the 1,000 plus college DJ’s and New Yorkers. This will be Kweli’s first major NYC performance in support of Beautiful Struggle so be on the lookout for special guests dropping by Times Square.
Thursday will also feature a MC Battle that will showcase some of the talented MC’s that have made a reputation on the up and coming battle site.The battle and entire night will be hosted by legendary producer/DJ Ali Shaheed
Muhammad, formerly of A Tribe Called Quest and Lucy Pearl. Ali’s 1st solo album, Shaheedullah and Stereotypes will be in stores this October on Garden Seeker Production/Penalty Recordings.
The CMJ Conference is the last major independent conference left and is an excellent opportunity to connect with the solders who keep the culture moving on a grassroots level.
Jin Preps Debut Album
Jin will be releasing his anticipated debut album The Rest is History on October 19th. The album features apperances from Swizz Beatz, Twista, Kanye West, Wyclef, LT and Styles P. The video to his latest single "Senorita," will be hitting TV screens real soon.
Jin just recently beat out rappers Shells, Jae Millz, and Wreckonize for a $50,000 cash prize and a new car. The battle took place in Puerto Rico at The Mixshow Power Summit, an annual event which brings together some of the music industry's top deejays and artists. Artists who attended the event this year included Snoop Dogg, Lil Jon , Cassidy, Kardinall Official, The Alchemist and more.
