Beastie Boys, De La Soul Hook Up For The Cause!
The Beastie Boys and De La Soul will hook up this weekend for a rare club show to benefit HIV/AIDS prevention efforts. The MTV2 Presents: A LIFEbeat Benefit will take place Saturday (August 28th) at the Miami's South Beach nightclub Crobar. The bill will also feature DJ Am and DJ Samantha Ronson.

Tickets for the event will be available tomorrow (August 26th) at MTV's VMA Take Over and Friday and Saturday at the VMA Block Parties, events tied to the music channel's annual Video Music Awards, which are set for Saturday at Miami's American Airlines Arena. Tickets will also be available via Wanttickets.com.

RONG>MTV Video Music Awards this weekend after gay groups planned a protest, the network said (today)Wednesday.
MTV pulled the Jamaican singer from the roster Tuesday after South Florida gay activists announced plans to protest Saturday's concert in Miami over some of his past lyrics, including "I'm dreaming of a new Jamaica, come to execute all the gays" and "Queers must be killed."
"We don't want anything to overshadow what will be a great weekend of music events for South Floridians," MTV spokeswoman Marnie Black said Wednesday. She declined further comment.
Beenie Man has had his concerts canceled in Europe over the last few weeks after angry gay groups protested. Although he has previously defended his lyrics, earlier this month, Beenie Man issued an apology for his previous songs, including "Bad Man Chi Chi Man (Bad Man, Queer Man).
"Various gay activists like Outrage! have recently targeted dancehall and reggae singers including Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton.
Beenie Man was not available for comment . He is currently on a world tour promoting his new album, Back to Basics. He ends his tour in Miami on November 8th.
