Fetish Clothing raked in over $50 million dollars in clothing and accessory sales last year.

In related news,Marc Ecko, recently teamed up with Atari Inc to create the first truly authentic video game based on urban culture and graffiti art entitled Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. It will hit all major video game platforms by June 2005.

you make some really good points. but my point is that hip hop is becoming a marketing tool/selling tool rather than the expression of nice black music. that is what i'm trying to say.

Nah
I don't agree with whoever just poested before me. I think Hip-Hop is a cultural movement and clothing is a large part of it. I mean how can you express yourelf if you look like everyone else. I'm not saying its a major part of hip-hop but it still is, thats like saying that graf aint part anymore cause you more of a lyricist. It's all expression, and besides Hip-Hop is street and street is hustle, and the way I see it. They getting their husstle on, if I could I definelty would make a clothing brand. Now again in no way am I saying that clothing should outweigh the quality of a lyricist but after a while it becmomes his visual physical unique signature. I mean we all know how Mos Def dresses, or X, Jay-Z. Fashion just lets you furthermore express yourself. Why wear something just to wear it. Hip-Hop is all about making a statement.

its people like this that are fucking up hip hop. hip hop/rap is about music. this whole urban culture materialism marketing bullshit has gone way too far, and is responsible for so much wackness in modern day music.
