Faith Evans and her husband appeared in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing after being arrested on drug possession charges last month in Hapeville, Georgia.
The couple was charged with the possession of cocaine and marijuana and have agreed to attend a pretrial intervention program, according to WSB-TV.
The "Burnin Up" singer and her record executive husband, Todd Russaw, will attend a 13-week drug rehabilitation program that includes counseling and group therapy.
Fulton County prosecutor Kendall Carter said they can be prosecuted if they fail to successfully complete the program.
The couple was pulled over during a traffic stop for an improperly displayed temporary license plate.
Officers found a "minimal amount" of marijuana on both of them as well as cocaine residue on Evans, said Hapeville police spokesman Capt. William Lyons.
Faith's attorney Vincent Dimmock says Evans is innocent and that the charges are "ridiculous."
The Newark, New Jersey native, who recently moved to the Atlanta area with her husband and three children, earned a Grammy nomination for her duet "Can't Believe" with Carl Thomas, released in 2001.
The 30-year-old singer was recently seen in the movie The Fighting Temptations which starred actor Cuba Gooding Jr. and
singer/actress Beyonce Knowles.
