Grammy nominated singer Faith Evans and her husband, who is also her manager, appeared in court Wednesday after being arrested on drug possession charges in Hapeville, Georgia.
The "Burnin Up" singer and her record executive husband, Todd Russaw, were charged with cocaine and marijuana and booked at the Fulton County Jail.,
Bond was set at $12,000 for Evans and $11,000 for Russaw, and a judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for Feb. 11.
The couple was pulled over Tuesday night during a traffic stop for an improperly displayed temporary license plate.
Officers found a "minimal amount" of marijuana on both of them as well as cocaine residue on Evans, said Hapeville police spokesman Capt. William Lyons.
Faith's attorney Vincent Dimmock says Evans is innocent and that the charges are "ridiculous."
"She was never in possession of any drugs or narcotics whatsoever. We believe she will be vindicated completely once she gets into court. She asks that all her fans pray for her during this very difficult period," Dimmock said.
The Newark, New Jersey native, who recently moved to the Atlanta area with her husband and three children, earned a Grammy nomination for her duet "Can't Believe" with Carl Thomas, released in 2001.
