Missy Elliott has proven herself to be nothing if not prolific throughout her career. Just a year after releasing one of her most successful albums, Under Construction, Missy's ready to do it again with This Is Not a Test, due November 25.
Its first single, "Pass the Dutch," hints at Missy's penchant for old-school allusions. The kid reggae band Musical Youth had a hit — and hopscotch anthem — in the '80s with their song "Pass the Dutchie."
Missy says she still feels she's "under construction," but that "this album represents how I feel right now in my life. I'm in a good space, and I think you can hear that."
Although the album is still being recorded, another song expected to represent is "Wake Up," featuring Jay-Z. It's a message track, Missy said, "to my black people especially. We need to stop being caught up. There are more important things going on in the world."
Also expected to appear on the album are Alicia Keys, R. Kelly and Busta Rhymes. There could be more guests, though, as Missy is known for her surprises.
