Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay, who was shot and killed in his New York studio last year, may have a street named in his honour. The Hip Hop Summit Youth Council has suggested that the street where the studio is located - 203rd Street/Merrick Boulevard – should be renamed Jam Master Jay Street. Hence, a petition has been circulating to put pressure on the local authorities. The local council in the Hollis area of New York’s Queens is apparently not averse to the idea, and are also considering naming an area of a local park after Jam Master, whose murder is still being investigated.
