Yonkers police seized 5 grams of heroin, 6.5 pounds of marijuana and $40,000 in cash from a local apartment leased to rapper Jadakiss, officials revealed yesterday (August 24).
Accoridng to Lower Hudson Journal News, Jadakiss was not in the apartment at the time police executed a search warrant, and he is not wanted at this time in connection with the case, police said.
The warrant was issued in connection with a Friday incident in which police officers from the housing unit stopped what they described as a suspicious vehicle in the area of 66 Main St. after first spotting it in front of 1 Van der Donck St., police said. Officers detected marijuana in the vehicle, police said.
Officers arrested the driver, Alberto Lajara, 25, of 108 Smart Ave., and charged him with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.
Gabriel R. Henriquez, 39, of 102 Lake Ave., a passenger in the car who led police on a brief foot chase, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree assault, both felonies, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor.
Police said further investigation led them to Jadakiss' apartment for which they obtained the search warrant. Officials said the case remains an open investigation, declining to re
lease additional information.
