An employee of 50 Cent was arrested by warrant Thursday (August 20) for the second time for an alleged assault on a woman at the rapper’s Farmington property.
A woman reported Sunday (August 16) that Dwayne McKenzie, 28, who lives in an outbuilding at 50 Poplar Hill Drive and Michelle Krzykowski, 21, of 378 South Main St., New Britain, assaulted her on the property. The palatial home and grounds are owned by 50 Cent.
“The woman called 911 from the side of the road some distance away,” Lt. William Tyler said. “She said a man and a woman at the Poplar Hill Drive address allegedly attacked her and she was struck in the head with an unknown object and had a head injury and other lacerations.”
The woman alleged that at some point in the fight, McKenzie held her to the ground and she was able to pepper spray her assailants, Tyler said. McKenzie and the 29-year-old victim were not dating, police said.
McKenzie was arrested by Farmington police in May 2008 after a woman he had been dating reported he choked her and struck her with a belt during an argument on the rapper’s property.
McKenzie had completed a required family violence education program and was expecting to have those charges dismissed early next year, his attorney Gerald Klein sa
id. Klein also represented McKenzie in a 2007 gun case where he was accused of firing a weapon in a Hartford club.
He received a five-year suspended sentence and three years conditional release for that case. McKenzie is employed as part of 50's G-Unit business venture, Klein said.
McKenzie was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after New Britain police pulled him over in his 2006 BMW for not wearing a seat belt. He was issued a verbal warning and held for Farmington police. Krzykowski turned herself in to Farmington police late Thursday.
Both were charged with second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. McKenzie was also charged with first-degree unlawful restraint.
The pair was released after posting court-set bond. McKenzie is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court Tuesday.
Klein said he still needed to check into the allegations but he didn’t believe the latest arrest would affect the status of McKenzie’s prior assault case.
