A New Orleans judge has rejected a request by prosecutors in the C- Murder case to postpone the rapper's trial which is set to kick off next month.
C- Murder, born Corey Miller, is accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a defunct New Orleans nightclub in 2002.
Last week, Juan Flowers, a jailed friend of C- Murder claimed that he was the one who killed the teenager that the rapper is accused of killing.
Prosecutors had asked presiding Judge Hans Liljeberg to postpone the trial to give them time to investigate Flowers' claims.
They argued that Flowers had denied being involved in the killing when questioned by authorities in 2003.
Flowers, is currently serving a life sentence in Georgia for a 2007 murder.
According to The Times Picayune, Liljeberg shot down the prosecutors’ request to postpone the trial Monday (July 20).
The prosecutors’ still plan on investigating why Flowers changed his story. They will be retrieving prison visitation records and Flowers’ phone conversations.
