Los Angeles based producer Johnny J, well known for crafting various hits on albums by late rapper Tupac Shakur, reportedly killed himself in a Los Angeles County jail on Friday (October 3). 

According to TMZ, Johnny J (born Johnny Jackson) took his life by jumping off a tier in the jail.  Johnny was in custody after being arrested for driving under the influence.

Johnny J produced an array of hits for Tupac including “All About U”, “How Do U Want It” and “Life Goes On”.

Johnny, 38, is survived by a wife and 2 children.
