50 Cent recently spoke on his upcoming film titled Before I Self Destruct which he plans to release on the same day as his fourth solo album of the same title.
The G-Unit honcho revealed to Rolling Stone that the music from his album Before I Self Destruct inspired the movie. The rapper directed and produced the flick.
“It’s not Purple Rain,” 50 said.“But it was inspired by the actual music.”
He also divulged that the film is not autobiographical but an urban themed movie with a twist.
“When [movies] portray certain lifestyles they don’t show cause and effect,” 50 explained.” I showed characters under pressure in scenarios where they felt like there were no other options, even though there were. There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated — for not seeing them in the first place.”
As reported earlier, Before I Self Destruct the album will be 50's last album on his current contract with Interscope Records.
50 Cent revealed that no music from the Before I Self Destruct album will be featured in the Before I Self Dest
ruct movie.
The rapper divulged that he tapped unsigned artists to craft the offical soundtrack for the Before I Self Destruct movie because he doesn't want Interscope having any rights to the material. Despite not having any established artists on the soundtrack, 50 stressed that it wont be sub-par.
“I kept the music up to standards,” 50 said of the soundtrack. “I worked with it until it was right.”
Before I Self Destruct, the movie and the album, will be released on December 9th.
