So So Def rapper Da Brat was sentenced today (August 22) to three years behind bars for hitting a woman with a bottle.

As reported earlier, Da Brat got into a heated dispute with a waitress at Atlanta club Studio 72 in October 2007.  During the argument, the rapper picked up a bottle of rum and hit the woman in the face.

The waitress sustained a deep laceration to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead.

According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Da Brat was also sentenced Friday to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service.  The rapper had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

Da Brat's family members cried while she was lead out of the courtroom.

 “I love y’all,” Da Brat told her family as she was being taken into custody.
