New York authorities are reportedly on the hunt for a man with ties to The Diplomats whom they claim ordered the murder of a teenager in 2005.
According To The New York Daily News, authorities claim that 32-year-old Carlos Thompson, who served as extra muscle for The Diplomats during their shows, ordered 13-year-old L'mani Delima to shoot 15-year-old Phoenix Garrett for selling Dipset CD's on a Harlem street in 2005.
Authorities say that Thompson approached Garrett and attacked him. Garrett would fight back by slicing Thompson in the face with a box cutter.
Thompson would then get one of his associates to get a .38-caliber handgun from a nearby car and would hand it to Delima and ordered him to shoot Garrett. Delima shot Garrett five times.
Garrett's parents told The Daily News that their son was selling the CD's to earn money for college.
Thompson would flee the scene and Delima would be apprehended. Delima has been convicted for the killing and will be sentenced in June.
Thompson, who has been on the run since the murder, will be highlighted on F
ox TV's America's Most Wanted tonight (May 24).
“For once in his life, Thompson should do the right thing and turn himself in,” said Garrett's mother, Jacqueline Birkett-Johnson. “I don't want to see Carlos Thompson out on the street one day longer to damage another child. He took away Phoenix's life and took away L'mani's life. It is unbelievable the damage he has done.”

Sentencing for L`mani Delima
According to confidential sources, L`mani Delima was sentenced yesterday June 25, 2008 to 9 years to life in the brutal assasination of 15-year-old Phoenix Garrett. he showed no remorse and did not apologize to family of the victim. THAT`S SAD! He`s 16-years-old now and has a lot of time to think of his horrific actions. The victim`s mother reached out to him again, he didn`t care. WOW!

BY AUSTIN FENNER DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

THE MOTHER OF a Harlem teen gunned down by a 12-year-old told her son`s baby-faced killer she forgives him - then asked the judge if she could hug him.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Corriero had just sentenced L`mani Delima to a prison term of eight years to life in a plea deal cut on the eve of trial in June. Delima, now 14, apologized yesterday for pulling the trigger of a .38-caliber pistol five times, killing Phoenix Garrett on June 16, 2005.
Then, as he was being led out in handcuffs, the victim`s forgiving mother, teacher Jacqueline Birkett-Johnson, 56, had one request for the judge: "Can I hug him, please?"
Before Corriero, clearly caught off guard by the request, could answer, the defendant`s mother, Laverne Delima, 42, walked across the courtroom with tears in her eyes and embraced Birkett-Johnson. Laverne Delima next hugged the victim`s father, James Garrett.
The judge said he couldn`t allow any contact with the defendant. Birkett-Johnson told the Daily News later she wanted the young man to know he can change the direction of his life.
"I wanted him to know before he left that Phoenix`s family felt compassion for him," said the grieving mom, an eighth-grade teacher at a Bronx public school. "We are not going to forget what has happened, [but] we want to forgive him."
James Garrett, 55, said he accepted Laverne Delima`s act of contrition for her son, but branded him a coward for shooting his 15-year-old boy in the back.
"You have incarcerated me," Garrett said to Delima about the loss of his son, a freshman at A. Philip Randolph High School. "You have incarcerated my mind. You have incarcerated my soul."
"I want to say I`m sorry," L`mani Delima answered a few minutes later. "I`m sorry for what I did."
Cops said the killing came during an argument between Delima, a junior high student from Jamaica, Queens, and Phoenix at 145th St. and Broadway.

let`s set the record straight
young un did not get 8 years. that was his original plea deal that his dipset sponsored lawyer forced him to take. it was 8 to life. it was given back to him when his mother complained that people who were a part of the crime were paying for his defense and leaving him holding the bag. he went to trial and blew trial. he will be sentenced on june 25, 2008. he is looking at 9 to life. the sentence for his age for 2nd degree murder.
