Foxy Brown avoided jail time today (May 8) by pleading guilty to one misdemeanor charge of menacing in a Brooklyn court as part of a plea deal.
As reported earlier, Brown was accused of hitting her neighbor, Arlene Raymond, with a Black Berry cell phone after they got into an argument last year.
According to MTV, Brown's plea deal allowed the Brooklyn bred rapper to avoid a felony assault charge and was sentenced to time served for her recent stretch in New York's Rikers Correctional Facility for violating probation.
“There was no penalty and we consider it a victorious day today, and we're moving forward so she can focus on her career, family and fans,” said Laura Dilimetin, Brown's lawyer. “She feels great. She's really happy and excited to move forward. We're very pleased with this outcome.”
Brown was also ordered to write an apology letter to Raymond who filed a civil lawsuit against the rapper last week seeking unspecified damages.
Dilimetin said she has not seen the civil lawsuit but plans to “fight [it] hard and make sure there are counter-claims against the person who filed it.”
In related news, B
rown will be releasing her third solo album titled Brooklyn’s Don Diva next week (May 13). The album features appearances from Dwele, Grafh, AZ and Lil Mo, among others.
