A Louisiana judge yesterday (April 22) shot down C-Murder’s request to travel to Jackson , Mississippi this weekend.
C- Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, is awaiting retrial on a second-degree murder charge in the 2002 killing of sixteen year old Steve Thomas, who was shot in the chest during a brawl in the defunct Platinum Club in Louisiana.
In the past, Judge Martha Sassone has allowed C-Murder to leave New Orleans to promote his books but according to The Associated Press, Sassone declined the rapper's latest request after meeting privately with his lawyer and the district attorney.
The reason behind C-Murder's travel request was not given but it is speculated that he wanted to be a part of a youth rally called “Hip-Hop & Books” which will take place in Jackson this weekend.
C-Murder has been under house arrest since he was released on bond in March 2006, after the Louisiana Supreme Court overturned his murder conviction and accepted his request for a new trial.
His second trial is scheduled to take place on June 9th.
