T.I. recently spoke to The Atlanta Journal Constitution about his upcoming album and projects from his Grand Hustle imprint.
As reported earlier, the Atlanta bred rapper plead guilty to various weapons charges last month as part of a plea deal to avoid trial.
Under the agreement, T.I. was ordered to spend at least 1,000 hours over the next year speaking against drugs, guns and gangs to “at-risk youth”.
If he fulfills the obligations of the community service, he will only receive a year and a day behind bars when he is sentenced in March 2009.
Prior to pleading guilty to the charges, T.I. was under house arrest and had been recording his fifth album titled Paper Trail in his home studio.
According to the rapper, Paper Trail will hit stores this September and its first single will premiere on his website (streetcred.com) in the next two weeks.
“There are elements that are still there And then there are new elements,” T.I. explained about Paper Trial's sound. “I'm about to do something with Amy Winehouse — I don't know if it's for [my CD] or hers, but I'm definitely excited.”
The rapper also revealed he will be launching his clothing line this year
and projects from Grand Hustle rapper's Big Kuntry and Young Dro will hit shelves this summer.
“Akoo Clothing will launch the holidays of this year,” divulged T.I. “We’re premiering Big Kuntry's album [in August] and Young Dro. We have other television shows [about comedians] .Also we have a Young Dro reality show. You follow this guy around long enough you're bound to be entertained, at the least.”
T.I. also plans to do his own reality show with MTV which will capture him performing his community service and other parts of his life.
“We're actually in the middle of negotiating exactly what it would take to be able to have that type of access to my life,” explained T.I. “The message that I'm trying to get out [with the show is] how much work that I have to do in the time that I have to do it in. All of this, I think, needs to be known. And that's a way to deliver the same message that I [deliver] to 15, 20, 30 kids, to the nation. They'll sit in front of the TV — even if I can't make it to their school.”
T.I is currently in negotiations to star in a bank robbery caper called Bone Deep . The rapper is also expecting a son with his longtime girlfriend Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. The baby is due on May 25th.
