A Jefferson County grand jury yesterday (February 12) declined to indict a North Carolina councilman with ties to rapper Juvenile with the rape of an 18 year old woman.

As reported earlier, 46 year old John Cantey Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree rape in Jeffersontown, Kentucky last year after the aforementioned woman claimed the councilman raped her at a Marriott hotel following a Juvenile concert.

Cantey, who was traveling with Juvenile, told authorities that he was the rapper's agent and the chief executive officer of J.C. Houseman Production Agency, a talent agency

Cantey would spend 11 days in a Kentucky jail before posting a $100,000 cash bond.

A spokesman for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office told The Courier Journal Monday that the grand jury proceedings were confidential and he could not reveal why the jury declined to indict Cantey.
