Kanye West, who had received eight nominations for this year's annual Grammy Awards, walked away with four awards last night (February 10) and stole the show with an emotional tribute to his late mother.
West lit up the stage with a performance of his single “Stronger” dressed in a jacket with flashing LED lights and light-up shades.
He would then pay tribute to his late mother Donda by singing “Hey Mama”, a song he dedicated to her on his 2005 album , Late Registration.
West also had the words “Mama” shaved into his hair.
As reported earlier, Donda West, 58, died at a Los Angeles hospital in November 2007 from a heart attack and multiple post-operative factors from surgery.
West won Grammys for Best Rap Album (Graduation), Best Rap Solo Performance for “Stronger”, Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “Southside” which featured Common and Best Rap Song for “Good Life,” which featured T-Pain.
