Medina: Hey, how you doing Lil' Scrappy?
Lil' Scrappy: Hey, how you doing baby?

Medina: I got to know about the name, is it a nickname from way back and if so why?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah, it’s a nickname.

Sixshot.com: Who named you that?
Lil' Scrappy: like the hood…you know niggaz was just…I used to fight a lot…you know what I’m saying? So, somebody just said that joint one day and I just heard it further…somebody would be like “what’s your name” and I’d just be like “Scrappy”.

Sixshot.com: Okay, I figured as much but I wanted to hear it from you. You’re kind of young…what age did you start rhyming?
Lil' Scrappy: Nine.

Sixshot.com: Nine years old?!
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah.

Sixshot.com: That’s impressive. Who’s your all time favorite emcee?
Lil' Scrappy: Tupac and Biggie, I got two of them.

Sixshot.com: Why those two.
Lil' Scrappy: I mean I learned stuff from them…ain’t too many rappers you could learn stuff from…you know what I’m saying…like what they say actually makes sense.

Sixshot.com: Okay. I can respect that. At what age did you decide to pursue this as a career or at the age of nine were you like” this is what I am going to do”?
Lil' Scrappy: When I was like thirteen.

Sixshot.com: Did you express that to your family, if so how did they feel about that, were they insistent that you get an e ducation?
Lil' Scrappy: Nah. That ain’t even my type of family. My mama gangsta, you know? So she was like “if my son wants to do this and I know he’s gonna do it, I know he’s got”. Everybody else was like that’s not what I needed to do, but I was gonna do what I wanted anyway.

Sixshot.com: (laughing) so your mother had your back then…?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah

Sixshot.com: That’s good. How did you get hooked up with Lil Jon?
Lil' Scrappy: doing a lot of parties…you know…I had a big underground buzz in Atlanta…the whole south really and then you know Jon came to one of my parties…well not Jon, he sent somebody and he was down.

Sixshot.com: How is it working with Lil Jon?
Lil' Scrappy: it’s cool. He’s real

Sixshot.com: A lot of people say he’s real down to earth and great to work with.
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah. I mean like…he crunk and chill you know…he like a regular human…he’s the “alcho” and we the “holics” …I’m the “alcho” and he’s the “holic”.

Sixshot.com: Okay. Let’s talk about “Crunk” music for someone who’s not from down south, such as me…what is your definition of Crunk music?
Lil' Scrappy: the definition of Crunk music is actually hip hop and rock and roll.

Sixshot.com: Okay.
Lil' Scrappy: It’s like off the meter; whatever off the meter is that’s crunk.

Sixshot.com: When I first heard your single “No problem” I thought that you had this “in your face” type of style, straight to the point with no chasers. How do you describe your style?
Lil' Scrappy: I’m real crunk, like I’m not talking about crunker than anybody else…I’m talking about like you can decide which one you want from me…you can take the crunk or you can take the real.

Sixshot.com: Okay
Lil' Scrappy: But on every song it’s going to be both of them…even if it’s a slowed down girl thing…I’m a come with it…you know what I’m saying?

Sixshot.com: You and Trilville are on the same album- is it just an oversized ep?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah. It’s a marketing scheme from Jon and BMG; they came up with that for both of us…that way no one had to wait to come out.

Sixshot.com: Let’s go back to your first single – did you have any input on recreating the movie “Training Day”?
Lil' Scrappy: Oh Yeah

Sixshot.com: How was that having some of the actors from the movie in the video?
Lil' Scrappy: I mean it was alright, you know what I’m saying…it was kind of fun…but I mean…I didn’t know some of them was going to be there…I ain’t know Snoop was gonna be there…you know what I’m saying? I just walked in the trailor and they was like “Snoop Here-Snoop here and he’s been looking for you playa” and I was like “yeah right”, they told me they were gonna take me to him…I went in the trailor and seen Snoop over there smoking a blunt and getting his hair braided. He was like “you give Scrap something to light up” and from then on out that’s been my homey.

Sixshot.com: What’s a “Head Bussa”?
Lil' Scrappy: A Head Bussa?

Sixshot.com: yeah
Lil' Scrappy: A “head bussa” is when you do way better than someone else and it bust they head every time you step outside. They gotta see you doing good. A “head buss” is somebody who can knock somebody the fuck out when they hatin’…you know?

Sixshot.com: What’s the next single off the album?
Lil' Scrappy: It probably won’t be one and if it is, it’ll be a double joint “B-real/F.I.L.A”.

Sixshot.com: No “Diamond in My Pinky Ring”
Lil' Scrappy: Nah, I wish.

Sixshot.com: Now that you’ve gotten so much success and your single and video are in heavy rotation, I know earlier you said that your mom had your back and she’s proud of you…how does your hood feel about you? Cuz, you know sometimes people will say they want you to make it, but as your success grows they start showing their true colors and weeding themselves out. Have you experienced any of that yet?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah. I mean it comes with the territory. When people don’t have money they feel like that…you feel me? Like, I tell haters all the time…I feel you... I know why you hate me…you know what I’m saying…cuz you don’t have any money…you don’t have anything to lose…but I got everything to lose…so…I’m a holla at you later. (laughs)

Sixshot.com: Sometimes, it can be kind of hard getting caught up in this industry are you easily distracted; if so, what are your biggest distractions?
Lil' Scrappy: Ah. My biggest distraction is weed, liquor no women…women are like the last thing and my family is a big distraction.

Sixshot.com: How do you stay focused?
Lil' Scrappy: I just be like “fuck that shit”

Sixshot.com: (laughing)
Lil' Scrappy: On the real I be like “fuck that shit”

Sixshot.com: Now being from the South. I know that you all have great reps for being extremely respectful especially towards the women. Where do you feel your place is in upholding that rep when so many rappers are taking a lot of slack for derogatory comments on women?
Lil' Scrappy: You can’t really care. I don’t care what nobody think about my music, if we call a girl a “bitch” that means she’s really acting like a “bitch” you know what I’m saying?...if we call somebody that everybody seen get disrespected or disrespect any dude, we gon say something to hurt your fucking feelings…where you ain’t gon want to live no mo’.  We don’t take no shit in the “A”…Atlanta niggaz are real.

Sixshot.com: I know Nelly was supposed to do a benefit concert…
Lil' Scrappy: You talking about Spelman?

Sixshot.com: Yeah.
Lil' Scrappy: You know what though?

Sixshot.com: What?
Lil' Scrappy: Nobody liked that shit. He was doing it for his sister. You know? If one of them was in his situation, they would have thought everybody was wrong, you know what I’m saying? I don’t fuck with Spelman.

Sixshot.com: Any future projects? I heard you were working on a shoe?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah, I’m working on a Fila deal. “Forever I Love Atlanta”, a clothing line…I got the baby jeans.

Sixshot.com: You’re just going all out, you’re doing the kids wear too. That’s uncommon.
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah. I’m doing everything.

Sixshot.com: When can we expect it?
Lil' Scrappy: Next year.

Sixshot.com: Next year? You dropping the album the same time the clothing line drops?
Lil' Scrappy: Yeah.

Sixshot.com: Are you working with any other producers that Lil Jon on the second album?
Lil' Scrappy: I have no idea yet.

Sixshot.com: Is this going to be another joint effort with Trilville?
Lil' Scrappy: Hell Nah!

Sixshot.com: collabos?
Lil' Scrappy: Lloyd

Sixshot.com: That’s it?
Lil' Scrappy: yep

Sixshot.com: For now or period?
Lil' Scrappy: For now

Sixshot.com: Okay. Thanks for taking the time out for me and I wish you much success.
Lil' Scrappy: I appreciate you, much love and good luck with the magazine.
