Jim Jones: What’s up Sweetie?

Medina: Good afternoon Mr. Jones I started to think that you were trying to dodge me

Jim Jones: Nah.

Sixshot.com: I’ve been trying to catch up with you for a long time…since before your album…

Jim Jones: Oh Yeah?

Sixshot.com: but it’s all good…

Jim Jones: Don’t do me like that sweetie... (laugh)

Sixshot.com: First of all I want to talk about your album since I didn’t get the chance before it dropped.

Jim Jones: Okay.

Sixshot.com: “On my Way to Church” if you told someone to buy it, what would you tell them to expect wh en they bought it?

Jim Jones: umm….to expect when they buy it….damn...expect to hear about a young brother that stepped out and told them to go to church but he didn’t quite get there yet….

Sixshot.com: Is that an enigma? Do I have to figure this one out? (laughs)

Jim Jones: Yeah. (laughs)

Sixshot.com: How many tracks are on the album?

Jim Jones: 22

Sixshot.com: 22?

Jim Jones: Yeah

Sixshot.com: Who’s on the album?

Jim Jones: Of course I got the whole Diplomats as you know; Cam, Juelz, JR Rider…umm…we got my man Chico DeBarge on there…

Sixshot.com: Chico DeBarge? Wow!

Jim Jones: Yeah….umm…got my man from Bone Thugs and Harmony on there….can you hold on a second sweetie….

Sixshot.com
: sure...

Pauses to conduct business

Jim Jones: hello…Yeah…pardon me.

Sixshot.com: Your video “Certified Gangsta” I thought it to be so west coast, who’s came up with that whole idea?

Jim Jones: The concept was mine.

Sixshot.com: How did you hook up with Game?

Jim Jones: umm… I seen the homey in a magazine, some of my homies from New York was like “the homey spit hard, you need to get at him” I got at him one day and it’s been mutual since then.

Sixshot.com: Now let me ask you, what’s your favorite cut of your album and why?

Jim Jones: the favorite cut?

Sixshot.com: yep and you can only pick one.

Jim Jones: umm…hold on for a second. The favorite cut off my album would have to be…you got me stumped on that one….shit…I love my album. (laughs)

Sixshot.com: (laughing)

Jim Jones: word…but umm…nah….you got me stumped…”Living like a Rider” I love that song.

Sixshot.com: Okay. With all of the success of Cameron and the Diplomats, one would have expected you to be signed to the ROC. Why is it that you aren’t and how did you get hooked up with KOCH?

Jim Jones: I tried Roc-a-Fella and a couple of other majors and they didn’t feel I was worth the money I was trying to get, so I had to figure out a plan… I did my whole album out of pocket…did my video out of pocket and me and Cam sat back and said “man, we gon go hard like they do down south and in the west coast, we just gon go independent and that’s how the KOCH thing came about.

Sixshot.com: How’s that going?

Jim Jones: Oh. It’s going beautiful

Sixshot.com: Good, I’m glad…congratulations

Jim Jones: You know I’m enjoying life right now.

Sixshot.com: That’s great. I want to touch on your name a little bit, because it does hold some negative connotations behind it, why would you choose that name?

Jim Jones: Well, I wasn’t trying to be funny and I was not trying to say I was Jim Jones from Guyana….

Sixshot.com: yes, Guyana mass suicide in the mid seventies.

Jim Jones: Yeah. That’s not it. That name was given to me, Cam said it one time in his rhyme and it stuck with me and that was that….can’t change history…

Sixshot.com: True. You…well history does repeat itself so you can make slight alterations so it does not re-occur.

Jim Jones: I know what you’re talking about.

Sixshot.com: I know you have other things to do so I’m gonna hurry….

Jim Jones: No, do your thing sweetie.

Sixshot.com: Thanks, nowadays hip hop is carrying a lot of negative baggage especially when it comes on to its treatment of women- what’s your take on that?

Jim Jones: Just some women we feel deserve that treatment, they don’t treat themselves like ladies so they get called bitches and hoes and all the other derogatory names, then there are some ladies we treat like queens…I mean ladies we treat like queens ..As far as me. you know what I mean? But there’s an ignorant bunch out there…you know…that are hot headed and they can’t contain it sometimes, but some people take it of context and they just do it like it’s cool and shit like that and that’s not the move…that’s not how you get a lady anyway…

Sixshot.com: Nah, that wouldn’t work…well it, might work with some… (laughs)

Jim Jones: Yeah (laughs)

Sixshot.com: Okay. I heard about the interview on Hot 97 with Mase? I know everybody has been asking about that…is there any beef with Mase?

Jim Jones: Nah…there’s no beef, I was just calling up to the radio…you know…I was a little hot that day and couldn’t believe what I was hearing and I decided to set the record straight…I didn’t appreciate what I was hearing…

Sixshot.com: Okay…successful solo artist, your video is in heavy rotation on BET, MTV & MTV2 from what I gathered before my cable got cut off… (laughs)

Jim Jones: Ha! (laughing) Yo, I love the way you keeping it ma.

Sixshot.com: what’s next for Jim Jones? What’s going with you- Is there a new album… I want to get in the loop now since I missed the first coming…

Jim Jones: I’m actually going to start recording my next album next month and umm…I’m in the midst of doing my new video for my new single called “Crunk Music”, I am doing the theme from the Warriors movie, I’m about to just tear a hole in the ozone layer…you know what I mean? I call the game the ozone layer so I’m about to tear a hole in it- ya heard?

Sixshot.com: I know that! How are you balancing being a CEO and the solo artist career? Is it hectic?

Jim Jones: I mean its all life. I’m living life, so when it comes time to do my music, I’m just regurgitating what goes on in life.

Sixshot.com: Okay…Sizzurp… I want to know what’s in it (laughs) and when is it hitting the market? Now if you don’t want to give me the ancient secret that’s cool.

Jim Jones: (laughing) ah. Man!! That’s cool…Sizzurp is just in the same category with Alize and Hypnotiq, the same type of liquor…it’s purple…just like that purple kool aid, but it tastes better. It’s pretty much in all of the markets…a couple states it hasn’t hit yet, so it might not be in DC yet, but it’s doing good. We are about to break a couple of records for this year…we’re doing pretty good.

Sixshot.com: No clothing lines?

Jim Jones: Yeah, we got a clothing line in line for fall 2005, so we’re trying to do some things.

Sixshot.com: Okay. You’re doing your thing. I want to thank you for taking the time out for me.

Jim Jones: Thank You.

Sixshot.com: and I wish you much continued success in your career and all of your endeavors.

Jim Jones: Thank you baby and same to you.
