Sixshot.com: How are you?
Young Buck: I am chilling, what up?
Sixshot.com: How did you come up with your name Young Buck?
Young Buck: I never named myself, a kid by the name of Priest gave me that name, he used to be like hey get your young buck ass in the crib man. So somehow it just stuck to me, and now everybody calls me “hey yo, Young Buck!”
Sixshot.com: Dou you still hang out with Priest, your OG?
Young Buck: Yeah, he is like my father figure, that’s the only father I had. We where doing some shit illegal but now it’s all legal, so when he comes home he is like “That’s what you wanted homie”.
Sixshot.com: How was it growing up in Nashville and how do you think it is different from growing up in a big City?
Young Buck: I don’t think it’s no different, honestly.
Sixshot.com: What where your Musical Influenced growing up?
Young Buck: I was listening to NWA, Easy E. Tupac and Biggie really made me understand the music. These are probably the artist who influenced me the most during my career.
Sixshot.com: What’s the first CD you have ever owned?
Young Buck: The first CD is NWA, Straight out of Compton.
Sixshot.com: Juvenile kind of brought you together with G-Unit. When he introduced you to them during this US Tour?
Young Buck: Yeah, I was with Juvenile and
I have been on the road with him for like a year and a half. He came up to us and was like “There are many opportunities for you here, take advantage of them”. From that, I met 50 Cent and Yayo. Usually when artist come together you don’t just freestyle together without battling or beefing. Yayo showed my stuff to 50 Cent and he liked it. And then I ended up on 50 Cent’s album “Get rich or die trying”.
Sixshot.com: What is the difference for you between Cash Money Records and G-Unit?
Young Buck: I am more active with G-Unit. With Cash Money I was in a video now and then but you never really herd me. I am much more active on G-Unit.
Sixshot.com: How is your relationship with Cash Money and Baby right now?
Young Buck: It’s good, I feel like what you go trough and experience, makes you who you are, so I don’t hold nobody accountable for what I was doing. I just look at it like I am winning and they are winning so we are aiight.
Sixshot.com: Let me know about your album “Straight Outta Ca$hville”?
Young Buck: I got the concept of my album from “Straight out of Compton”, the first album I have ever owned. They established who they where, where they where from and what they all about in this album, and that’s exactly what I am trying to do with my album “Straight Outta Ca$hville”.
Sixshot.com: What is your favorite track on the album?
Young Buck: I probably have to go with “I am a Soldier” featuring 50 Cent. This is a song really speaking about my life really speaking of what I have been trough and what broth me where I am at now. Obstacles that I have crossed…and made it.
Sixshot.com: Who produced your album?
Young Buck: I did not get a chance to work with Eminem and Dr. Dre this time. I feel like I will get my weight up a little bit and then have my whole second album produced by them. This time I worked with Lil’ John, DJ Paul form Tripple 6 Mafia, Red Spider I got a variety of producers on my record.
Sixshot.com: Who will be featured on your record, except 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks?
Young Buck: I got many features like Lil’ Flip, David Banner, T.I., Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, the whole DPG family and G-Unit Family.
Sixshot.com: What about the comments you made about Monica?
Young Buck: No, I am not with her, we are not together, but I got noting bad to say about her.
Sixshot.com: Do you feel that you are not given enough respect due to the fact that you are famous by association to 50?
Young Buck: I feel we are on our own, people knew what 50 had to bring to the table but they did not know what I bring to the table. I respect the fact that you know that power was more 50 Cent, but the successful solos show that we can hold it down and that’s a statement that we are making too.
Sixshot.com: Who would you do a collaboration with right now?
Young Buck: Since Tupac isn’t here, I would not mind working with Beanie Sigel. I love Sigel he got real life school behind him, he is a real goof. I like to work with artist like him who produces music based on reality. That’s the only way people will identify with you and you get real fans. Next to Tupac I would go with Beanie, he’s aiight.
Sixshot.com: What do you think about Bill Cosby's comments about the Black community?
Young Buck: I did not really hear the details, but anytime there is negative comments coming from a black man about black people, I feel that aiint right.
Sixshot.com: What do you think of hip-hop today?
Young Buck: I think 50 Cent brings hip-hop back to the streets. I feel hip-hop got away from the streets and that’s not good, I feel like that’s where it started and that’ where it needs to go. 50 did bring it back to where it was started.
Sixshot.com: What do you think about bootlegging?
Young Buck: I think the whole bootlegging is for the consumer to kind of get a reference to an artist before a project comes. People get a taste of the album before it comes out and I believe that if they like what they hear and if the quality is right and if they can associate with the artist they will go out and buy a copy of the album.
Sixshot.com: What do you think about the War and Iraq?
Young Buck: I think we are fighting over nothing. All I can say is that: GO VOTE THIS YEAR! You might not have another chance…That’s all I really got to say. We got problems around here too and we are focusing on Iraq.
Sixshot.com: What where your best experiences in other countries?
Young Buck: I liked Japan, the peeps there can sing your whole track word by word. But if you see them backstage and ask them something, they don’t know one word of English. That is pretty impressive.
Sixshot.com: What are your plans after the release of your album?
Young Buck: I like cars a lot. I have a lot of love for cars. I want to put my own rims out. I want to get off in the movies. I am definitely going to work on G-Unit South which is going to be 50-Cent and me; it’s going to be big. Look out!
