Sixshot.com: It has been almost 2 years since you released your last album, what have you been doing?
AZ: I have been working on the album and I have been shooting a movie. The movie
is called Envy, its features Ray Jay, Lisa Ray and myself.
Sixshot.com: What about your new album?
AZ: Yeah, I’ve been working on the album, you know I’ve been getting the album done and I got my own label now so it’s a lot of work when your doing your own label.
Sixshot.com: So what artists do you have on your record label?
AZ: Well I have a guy named YG he’s on the album, and I have my man Animal they kind of been on my albums through my whole career, and now they ready to do their own thing now.
Sixshot.com: So let me know about your album called “Final Call” which is going to be out soon?

oNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">AZ: The album will be out on September 24th and basically the final call is like I’m giving people the last chance, this is my last chance for them to recognize who I am, what I bring to the table to show their appreciation because I’ve been in the game so long and I feel I don’t get the respect that I deserve. So that’s basically what my final call is. I have Tony Sunshine on it from the Terror Squad, I have my man Rell from Roc-A- Fella, and I have CO Smooth he’s on the record with me, and the rest of the album is me, all me.
Sixshot.com: Did you produce the album?
AZ: I produced about four of five tracks on the album and that was new for me but I guess any artist knows what they wanna rap over, so I guess that was a good thing for me.
Sixshot.com: Is there anything else you want to say about the album? It’s going to be the last one?
AZ: No, its not going to be my last album, I don’t know, I am not sure, I mean I think I have one more inside of me. One more and that's it.
SIXSHOT.COM: What about Nas, is he going to be on this album?
AZ: No, Nas is not on this album, but I think I’m on his album because I did a song on his album but I am not sure, I’m going to reach out to Nas and let him know, let’s get this album done. So you can put it on SIXSHOT, or on Nas website to let him know AZ is looking for him so we can get this album done.
SIXSHOT.COM: A lot of people in our community were asking if they can expect another Nas and AZ album?
AZ: Yeah, we were going to do it but we got to hurry up and do it.
SIXSHOT.COM: Are there any concrete plans to for the album?
AZ: Not as of yet, but if it happens I’m with it.
Sixshot.com: Are there any plans to reunite The Firm?
AZ: Not as of jet but if it happens, I'm with it.
SIXSHOT.COM: What album do you consider to be your best?
AZ: Right now this one is my best one, but before this one I love, Aziatic, and Do or Die.
SIXSHOT.COM: Is there a special reason or do you consider them you best albums just because you had the most fun doing them?
AZ: Both, I had the most fun them and Do or Die is when I first came to the game, so I didn’t care, and in Aziatic is because I’ve been through so much, and I express myself a lot on the album.
SIXSHOT.COM: If you could choose one artist to do a colabo right now, who would it be?
AZ: Outkast, and the West Side Gang, with Ice Cube and Mack 10.
Sixshot.com: What is the movie about?
AZ: More or less, it’s like I’m a drug dealer and I’m trying to get out of the game, and Ray Jay is my little cousin he wants to follow my footsteps and I’m more or less like I know what the game persist of, so I’m really kind of hesitant to letting him follow my footsteps, but then I’m like ok you want to do it, fine. Then I got some guys that I’m with, and they figure they’ve been with me for all this time so they want to take on what I’m leaving behind and then that’s when all the drama starts and the gun play, but at the end of the day it’s like nobody wins. So it’s kind of like a Belly and a State Property mixed together.
Sixshot.com: So that’s going to be out in the theater or on DVD?
AZ: Um, were trying to get it in the theaters right now.
Sixshot.com: Do you personally use the internet?
AZ: Every now and then.
SIXSHOT.COM: What impact do you think the internet has on the Hip-Hop community?
AZ: Yeah, It’s a good way to get people to hear what’s going on, it’s a good way to get some feedback to figure who likes what, what’s hot and what’s not, you know the Internet is very big right now it controls the world.
SIXSHOT.COM: Do you have any favorite web sites?
AZ: No, I really don’t do websites like that, to be honest, so I really don’t have a favorite one but I think they all are good.
SIXSHOT.COM: What do you think about the state of Hip-Hop, what should be changed and what shouldn’t?
AZ: Well Hip-Hop it’s self is glowing first from the east coast to the west coast and now to the mid west, I love it that everybody is getting a chance to shine, but what I would want to change is that more people become independent and that you know a lot of people stop dealing with the politics of the game dealing with the majors as far as when it comes to paperwork and contracts and all that. I would love for people to start owning more of their masters and the publishers willing to become self… you know self control.
SIXSHOT.COM: What do you think about politics, elections are coming, are you going to vote?
AZ: No I’m not going to vote, I just found out that I am not able to vote. I was not sure, because I was a felon. You know what I mean. At one time felons where able to vote but I found out that I can’t vote right now. I won’t be voting this election but would be encouraging those that can vote right now to vote, and know who were putting in office, and know what the definition behind voting is, so they get a clever idea of what’s going on.
SIXSHOT.COM: What do you think about the current political situation right now like looking at Iraq where brothers dieing every day?
AZ: It’s crazy, the worlds been crazy, but it’s getting crazier. There’s a lot of politics that we don’t know about that is coming to light right now so you know the world is getting a first class seat to see what’s going on with the government and all of that with the Farenheit 9/11 movie. Yeah I went to see that, it was kind of deep and I guess it’s the sign of the time right now.
SIXSHOT.COM: Are you doing on tour?
AZ: I’m trying to set some shows up right now, so we can come over to Cali, were trying to figure it out right now.
SIXSHOT.COM: Do you have anything else you would like to say or any shot outs?
AZ: Yes look out for Quad Money Records, the Final Call the album AZ would be in stores September, the clothes line Is coming the liquor, the movie Envy will be out soon.
