Eh...
I'm a Talib Kweli fan. The Beautiful Struggle was okay, but his mixtapes were better than this. The Beautiful Mixtape and The Beautiful Mixtape Vol. 2 are way better than this album. Don't buy this album, but if you're a Talib Kweli like me, buy it. Talib Kweli's lyrics are so real. And, Mos Def is better than Talib Kweli, by the way. Mos Def's flow is so tight and so is his lyrics. I want Black Star back!

WtF?!?
Fuck you premiere. You must be deaf. First of all, Talib IS better than Mos Def. 2nd, none of the tracks are skippable. And 3Rd, Hi-Tek does not have bad beats!

There's No Diss in :::Moment of Clarity:::
[begin... verse 2]
The music business hate me / Cause the industry ain't make me / Hustlers and boosters embrace me / And the music i be makin / I dumb down for my audience / And double my dollars / They criticize me for it / Yet they all yell "Holla" / If skills sold / Truth be told / I'd probably be / Lyrically / Talib Kweli / Truthfully / I wanna rhyme like Common Sense (But i did five Mil) / I ain't been rhymin like Common -- Since / When your sense got that much in common / And you been hustlin since / Your inception / Fuck perception / Go with what makes sense -- Since / I know what i'm up against / We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant / And i can't help the poor if i'm one of them / So i got rich and gave back / To me that's the win, win / The next time you see the homie and his rims spin / Just know my mind is workin just like them (The rims that is) [end]
The NEW album is Fire! What happens is we are so use to listening to the :::LYRICALLY-CHALLENGED OR IMPAIRED::: that we - when someone speaks pure spit with real meaning and wisdom -- when we hear truth -- educated truth… and it’s held down… some rejected it. Slave mentally! And Ashanti – listen again to the Ashanti reference... he even said you wouldn’t get it. (Ooh Baby!) The Kobe thing was more like an, “I told you so.” - “Don't need diseases or cases, ain't tryin' to catch nothin' / And when they throwin' p*ssy, ya best believe you catchin' somethin'..."

This album dope. I don't care what the review says. I don't skip a track, the problem is that it too short. Listen to Around My Way, Ghetto Show and Black Girl Pain.

jay-z loves talib
hey, jay-z isn't dissing talib. first of all, the lyric is, "if skills sold, truth be told, lyrically, i'd probably be talib kweli." that's not a bad thing - he's giving kwe some props. likewise, talib is not dissing jay-z. no need to look for beef where there is none - that stuff is dead.

I have an added point to make. I read the last part of the review and I actually laughed. When he said "just as rich and famous as jay-z", he is taking shots at Jay-Z. If you've listened to Jay's song Moment of clarity, he takes a small poke at common sense and talib kweli for not selling because they're so lyrical. "If lyrics sold, truthfully, I'd probably be, lyrically, talib kweli". Talib uses the same rhyme scheme and pattern to say his own comment about it. Pay attention to the lyrical content before you make judgements about what they're trying to see.

that reviewer has no idea what he is talking about. I loved Kweli's old stuff and This album. The song "We got the beat" has an awesome beat and I'll bet any money that it will be his next single off the album. and anyways, beats are not all to an artist, Kweli has always been a lyrical artist, pay more attention to the lyrics next time bud.

sadly i agree
I am a long time Kweli fan, from way back and I was entirely dissapointed with this album. I have no problem with him venturing out and trying different things as he did on Quality but this album just doesn't have a good feeling. It sounded like average material from a above average artist.

How can this guy be a critic
This guy sounds like a person who appreciates some played out bullsh*t. He says,"Talib soon partners with the Neptunes for BROKEN GLASS, that sounds downright strange". This song is just a showcase of some of Talib's talent to lay out a heartfelt story of the tough times to stardome for some. The fact they called it wack I have no clue I personally think the beat is sick as hell. I have no idea what this critic is on but go rate some Ja Rule Fat Joe bullsh*t.

About Time
I don't know why Premiere trashed this album. Granted there are some tracks where the beats just feel strained but on a whole its a really good album. I can't beleive that the truth and realness of the first track was overlooked. It's about time an artist spoke with the heart that Talib did on that track. Respect and thank God that we haven't lost our consciousness completely.
