With the release of their new project Expansion Team Dilated Peoples have supplied the public with more than something to roll to. In the form of tracks produced by All Stars such as the Beatminerz, DJ Premier, Alchemist, and Questlove (of The Roots), Dilated Peoples provide an album that erects the Hip Hop soul. The title “Expansion Team” represents the struggle going from Cali freestyle legends to big league players with cats like The Roots. Dilated Peoples still possesses the love for Hip Hop which drove them to murder other crews with their talent in the LA Hip Hop scene. Their drive to keep representin’ Hip Hop in its truest from is shown in them taking the act to Manchester on February 4th to begin their 2002 UK tour. Dilated brings the realest in deep lyrics to bangin’ get your mind open beats grab the album or check them live if you get the chance, hop on the train!

Sixshot.com had a chance to talk to Rakaa

How did you guys come together?
Me and Evidence started with rap in 1992 through freestyle sessions at L.A.’s Hip Hop Shop. I met Evidence years earlier because we were both into graffiti.

Tell me about your last album?
I did learn a lot making the record. It was great to work with Premier, Alchemist and Questlove. We were working out of Los Angeles and New York. Also, the album sold more in 3 months than the “The Platform” album did in 2 years. I had a great time working on the album.

Do you have any plans for touring?
In February we will st art the Scratch tour in the UK. And later we will start a touring the US.
