Jay-Z: 'Me And Lil Wayne In The Same Sentence? No' printer friendly version Send this story to a friend!

Jay-Z recently revealed his thoughts on Lil Wayne's greatness and his well documented relationship with R&B superstar Beyonce.

Hov, who graces the cover of the latest issue of XXL Magazine, claims that Wayne hasn’t reached the level to proclaim himself 'the greatest rapper alive' yet , but he does have the potential to become it.

“I think Lil Wayne is extremely talented,” Jay said. “ I think he's one of the most talented ones out there. I mean, even more so how his delivery is than what he says. I don't think some of the things he says sometimes are the greatest things, but the way he delivers it, that's part of it.”

“But do I think me and Lil Wayne should be in the same sentence? Me? No,” Jay emphasized. “ I mean, hopefully one day. He has to accumulate work. Put some classics under his belt.”

Despite Jay’s critique  and the public's insinuation of him taking jabs at Wayne on T.I.’s “Watch What You Say Me”, both rappers collaborated on a song which will appear on Hov’s  upcoming album , American Gangster, which drops on November 6th.

Nas and Beanie Sigel make guest appearances on the album.

The Def Jam president also talked about the media’s infatuation with his relationship with Beyonce.

“I think people are only interested in (a relationship) three times: When you get together, when you break up, and when you have a baby,” Jay explained. “They don't have good intentions. People just want to manipulate the situation to benefit them. I think relationships are broken up because of the media.”
