In a move to shut down rumors of refusing to play  videos from Little Brother because  the group was too ‘intelligent’ for their audience , BET recently announced that LB emcee Phonte will appear in  the  ‘CIPHER” during the network’s upcoming Hip Hop Award show.

“I'm not sure how all that confusion started,” said Stephen Hill , Executive Vice President of Music & Talent in a statement.  “ I was surprised when the accusation came up.  The Little Brother CD was one of my personal favorites and Phonte's flow is crazy.”

“When it came time to put together ciphers for this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards, I personally requested that he be involved.  We're very glad that he accepted.  And, of course, he ripped it,” Hill added.

Last year’s ‘CIPHER’ featured Lupe Fiasco , Styles P and Papoose ,among others.

The BET Hip Hop Awards , hosted by Katt Williams , take place on Saturday( October 13) at Atlanta's Civic Center and will be broadcast  on Wednesday(October 17)at 8 p.m.
