Lil' Flip was arrested and charged with credit/debit card abuse in Houston Saturday.

The artist, 26, whose real name is Wesley Weston, turned himself in around 2:30 p.m. at Harris County Courthouse 21 and was released on $2,000 bond.

"It has more to do with people around him, and not the man himself. The man is not a criminal; he's never been in trouble. " said community activist Quanell X, speaking on behalf of Weston.

Characterizing the incident as a "small, slight situation" the activist promised that the charges "will be worked out."

Weston, a Houston native, is due in court Monday.
