Sixshot: Capone! How are you doing?
Capone: I’m Okay and you? 

Sixshot: I’m good. First of all, I want to deal strictly with you and the music, no legalities….I just want to talk about this new album.

Capone: That’s what I’m talking about baby! That’s the best thing that I’ve heard all day. 

Sixshot: [Laughing] why five years? Where have you been?

Capone: It’s the game…man…it’s political…but see when you talk about “Why five years?” I got to go into certain things. You feel me? So, I will just take the initiative and dwell on it. Dealing with Penalty and Tommy Boy…you know Tommy Boy dropped Penalty off then me and Nore went to Tommy Boy where I had done the solo deal, but they didn’t do right by “C’N’N” album , so we kind of Suge Knighted ourselves out of that contract.. We ended up on Def Jam, the first album we were supposed to release out of the Capone a nd Noreaga camp was the Capone solo album which is “Pain, Time and Glory/Fast life), dropping July 12^th. Then this thing happened at Hot 97 and I got banned from the radio station. I couldn’t drop, so we wound up dropping the N.O.R.E album. They really didn’t do right by that…we were gonna do the CNN album and a lot of changes started happening at Def Jam a lot of people that were behind our project…rolling with us…left the label…you feel me?

Capone: and then…umm…you know from where we stood it was up for grabs, so I wasn’t gonna stand around…you feel me?. And wait for these dudes to get their shit together. So, I figured I would come over here and do my “One-Two” over here at Koch and umm…make myself pop…you feel me? So, that’s the position I am in right now in 205, I’m over here at Koch. We’ve got this album “Pain, time & Glory” and you know…we’re gonna see what’s going on.
 

Sixshot: Tell me, what’s behind the title?

Capone: Hey Yo! That’s my life, that’s your life, that’s everybody’s life…like…when I got locked up I took those three words and I lived by them, I breathed it…I came home to it. People think “Pain, time and glory “they automatically think jail…or money, but you can put it to the regular parts of life. You know pain can be...getting your hair braided...it takes time to do that shit and the glory is when your shit comes out looking good! You can take it to any part of life. I figured that I was gonna live by that and that’s why that’s the name of my solo album and the name of my entertainment

company.

Sixshot: Okay I am reneging….but only because you brought it up…when you were awaiting release from prison…what was going through your mind? As far as your plans…were you planning on laying low from the rap game for a while….

Capone: When I went to jail I was broke so when I came out I was on some real spending money shit. I wasn’t even concentrating on rapping…I bought a Benz, house all types of shit (laughs), then I got focused on what was really good…as I was getting focused a lot of monkey wrenches got thrown in the game…nah mean? So, you know…it was like if it was meant to happen then it’s going to happen and I see right now that it’s happening…so you know I was patient.

Sixshot: You chose Koch to get as you put it your “one-two” on. Hey! I like that! I’m going to use that! (Laughs)

Capone: No doubt! (Laughs) Just make sure that you say Capone coined it!

Sixshot: You chose Koch at a time where a lot of “well to do” rappers have referred to it {Koch} as “a rappers graveyard” how do you feel about that reference?

Capone: I mean at this point, in my career every label is a rappers graveyard…you feel me? What label do you know except for Interscope that’s really doing something? Nah mean? So, it’s like you have Def Jam and their artist are selling like 300,000 records, you got Interscope…with only 50 selling records…you know what I’m saying…only G-Unit, everybody else is like you can your 500,000 on, so I figured if I’m gonna sell 300,000 or 500,000 records, I’m a do that over here and get my real money…so, when I can look at that nigga who went 3-4 million over there and be like “I’m holding too homey!” You know what I’m saying? (Laughs) off a gold album…so it’s like I could have signed at any label but why backtrack? Take Lil’ Jon & them were signed to a major label and their first album went Gold…they made their good music signed with TVT and went platinum. TVT is the same label as Koch…same exact structure so if you can make it happen…if you’re known for out records…you made that hot music then you push shit to the best of your advantage and everything else will come…the more records you’re selling the more money they put in your project.

Sixshot: Ok. What’s the first single off the album?

Capone: “It’s been a long time” and it’s crazy! My producer Screwface produced it and it’s basically speaking on what’s really going on and then on the B side “Soldier Story” The HeatMakerz produced it and it’s a great record, I got my man Alper Steve operating and putting my name out there. You know what I’m saying? I feel real good about that record…I’m a make sure you get a copy.

Sixshot: Ok. I’m a hold you to that…you gonna run into a little 5ft something lady asking for her copy….

Capone: (Laughing) I’m a have to give you one out of my pocket

Sixshot: How many cuts are on the album?

Capone: intro, 16 cuts and 3 skits

Sixshot: Other than Screwface and HeatMakerz who else did production?

Capone: DJ Absolute, Twinz, Nexus, Reefer, Dove and my-self I co=produced the Scarface joint.

Sixshot: Who’s featured on the album?

Capone: Raekwon, Akon, Scarface, C-Murder, Devin the Dude, Peedi Crack, Bun B, Butch Cassidy and the Black Militia Baby!

Sixshot: That’s quite a line up. You’re doing it real big!

Capone: Yeah, I’m trying to sell records in my atmosphere…you dig.

Sixshot: You’re going to sell because people have been waiting for you.

Capone: I’m glad that you’re helping them know that.
 

Sixshot: What’s your target market-who are you trying to reach?

Capone: Everybody. I got South records on there; I got records for sexy women such as you on there. It’s this joint that I know you’re going to like called “You so crazy”, you’re gonna have to get back at the label and let them know what you think. I want to get some female opinions on that one.

Sixshot: Ok. That’s no problem. What are your plans…are you touring?

Capone: Yeah, I’m doing promo starting June 13^th, radio, in stores doing the things that you do when you’re promoting an album. I ain’t got to do nothing crazy like cuss somebody’s mama out or start a fight with anybody! (Laughs)

Sixshot: Laughs. Where does your promo tour kick off?

Capone: Miami baby where it’s hot!

Sixshot: Any overseas tours?

Capone: Yeah, they got me going to England July 17^th I think for seven days.

Sixshot: Keep me posted on that. I just came back from England and my home girl runs her own magazine Write On Point! And I am sure she would love to cover you when you go over.

Capone: Definitely.
