The Los Angeles Times reports that Sony Pictures is close to picking up Lil Wayne's highly anticipated documentary, Tha Carter.
Tha Carter premiered at the annual Sundance Film Festival on Saturday (January 19).
Independent filmmakers premiere their projects at the festival in hopes of being distributed and marketed by major studios.
As reported earlier, The Carter will give fans an in-depth look into the life and career of Lil Wayne. [View The Trailer For The Carter].
The documentary was helmed by acclaimed director Adam Bhala Lough.
Sony Pictures has already picked up two urban themed films at the festival, the cop drama Brooklyn's Finest and the blaxploitation movie Black Dynamite.
