Listmania: Tupac's Top 10 Videos printer friendly version Send this story to a friend!

Tupac has released more music posthumously than when he was alive so it’s no surprise that he have a ton of visuals to go along with it. One thing that’s for sure is that nobody had an effect on people like Tupac, it’s just undeniable. Whether he was riling up conservatives or touching the hearts of the hardest thug there was something about the man that people just loved. To this day people can’t get enough ‘Pac and when you talk about a hardcore following you can’t find one stronger than his.

To be honest I was never the biggest Tupac fan in the world but the thing that truly amazed me was the way people reacted and still do react to him and his music. To many he was the thug immortal, bigger than just a man, a hip-hop prophet. In this week’s Listmania we’re going to be taking a look at Tupac’s top ten videos. (R.I.P ‘Pac)

10. “Hit ‘Em Up”

Considered one of the greatest dis records of all time Tupac berated Biggie in this scathing attack. Besides claiming that he had sex with Biggie’s wife Faith Evans he went on to discredit Puffy and the Junior M.A.F.I.A. The video came with Biggie, Puffy, and Lil Kim’ impersonators, the latter of who got her wig snatched off her head. The Outlawz took turns verbally slaughtering Bad Boy because Tupac Your browser does not support inline frames or is currently configured not to display inline frames. STRONG> dismissed them as “not on his level”. It may not be right but it is a classic.

9. “Dear Mama”

Not just one of Tupac’s most touching songs and videos but one of the most touching songs by any artist, Tupac took this opportunity to thank his mother for watching out for him even though he was a less than manageable kid. The emotions he spilled out on this song were incredible and the video shows the situations a young Tupac went through such as his father dying, his mother being a crack addict, and having to visit him in jail. Who could forget the line, “huggin’ on my mama from a jail cell”?

8. “Brenda’s Got A Baby”

This is one of those videos that makes one wonder which was the real Tupac, the one who would flip out in a split second or the one who loved kids. In the video he tells the story of a young mother who has no business having a kid. We see Tupac rapping on the street, spitting over the melancholy beat. He holds children from around the way and you can see how much he truly cares for them. Definitely a touching song with a message.

7. “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted”

The greatest scene in this video was undoubtedly the opening sketch where a bloody Tupac shows up to the Biggie and Puffy impersonators office to accuse them of trying to have him killed. ‘Pac and Snoop go on to murder the track first sitting around a table for a feast and the of course, in the courtroom. Tupac and Snoop made a good combination. Too bad we couldn’t see more of them together.

6. “California Love” (Alternate Version)

MTV and the other video channels always used to play the “Mad Max” version of this video so when I saw this version I flipped out. It was such a treat and they only showed it like once a month.I used to sit around and just wait for it. It’s “California Love” except instead of being in the Thunderdome the fellas are doing their thing California gangster style in a mansion with women and champagne all around. I loved this video.

5. “To Live And Die In L.A”

This is another classic video. This video was just Tupac showing everybody that Cali lifestyle. Whipping through the streets in the convertible dressed in the white linen pants this video had Cali written all over it. We saw the swap meet and other L.A. sights. And who could forget the Dre dis at the end? “California love part motherfuckin’ two without gay ass Dre”. Crazy.

4. “Smile”

While this song was meant to help the kids the visuals probably aren’t for them. This is the hottest, scariest, creepiest video ever made. Tupac is crucified and rapping on the cross in this kind of eerily shaped landscape of mountains and grass while a trench coat wearing Scarface stops through the oddness to drop some crazy lyrics. This definitely hit home and the video itself was amazing.

3. “How Do U Want It”

This video was straight up about the ladies. We see hundreds of beautiful women all over the place while Tupac enjoys the festivities and drops his sexually charged verses. For what it was, this video was a straight banger. Plus, who would turn down all that eye candy?

2. “I Ain’t Mad At Cha”

Another touching video by Tupac this also shows one of his many predictions that he would be killed. In the video he is mostly a spirit and raps to his friend about well, not being mad at him. Despite the changes his good friend has gone through and all that they have been through together, in the end he just wants him to be happy no matter what it takes.

1.“Changes”

This video is just clips of Tupac but combined with the music and lyrics it’s truly a touching joint. It shows that ‘Pac did a lot with his life and whether you loved him or hated him he did what he wanted to do. The highlight for me is the scene where Pac storms out of the courtroom. You gotta love it!
