The Sixth Sense: Surviving Diddy printer friendly version Send this story to a friend!

Well, it’s over, one of this writer’s favorite shows on television; I Want To Work For Diddy. During the early 2000’s, getting me to watch a reality show would be harder than trying to give Kevin Federline’s debut CD back to his own record company, but in recent years, channels like VH1 have figured out how to get into the psyche of non-believers and make us couch potatoes for an hour or so staring at our HD flat screens TV’s intently like adolescent boys who gaze at websites on the Internet they have no business watching. Still, with the show’s final episode on Monday night, it made me to think back to how it first started with all two facing, drama, and the contestants tripping over their tongues when faced with elimination.

The people who watched the show all shared the same thoughts; how they didn’t want Kim AKA “Poprah” being able to breathe the same air as Diddy when it was all said and done. To those people (including myself) their wish came true when the third-to-last challenge involved the final four; Kim, Suzanne, Stephanie, and Mike working side-by-side with Mr. Diddy himself over at the Bad Boy offices. In a brief moment of shear stupidity, Kim got into a slight quarrel with her boss-in-waiting which prompted him to fire her on the spot. Fro m there a sigh of relief rained upon the others, because they wanted her gone from day one, and tried everything in their power to make it happen.

But when the smoke cleared, and Diddy’s private jet was on the tarmac waiting to fly him to Paris for the Cannes Film Festival, the two Bronx natives Suzanne (with PhD’s and degrees from here to Kalamazoo), and Mike the typical hustle-oriented New Yorker, Diddy choose to go with book smarts over street smarts. Then as the new employee boarded the jet to assist her boss in Paris, the jet stopped, and the door flew open with Diddy telling Mike to join him, because he has more than one company that can use the extra help. With a move that’s usually unprecedented with competition-based shows, Sean Combs proved again that he’s more than capable of being a true showman by adding that twist at the end.

However, with the finale of the series, the fix for another reality show still Jones’ through me like the burned out celebrities going through detox on Celebrity Rehab. But who knows, with these types of programs becoming more famous than when Buffie The Body was first introduced to us, I’m pretty sure the next phenomenon will be invading your local listings soon enough.
