A lot of artist claim they were that dude in the hood and many times the truth comes out. We call the number of times when a dude was claiming this, that, and the third to be whatever until some bad exposure pulled their card. On the real though for the dudes that was really in the streets like that they remain on the low. Honestly real street dudes don’t brag on what they did, because people already know what it is with them.

In life though we all do things we regret (well some do), but there is nothing wrong with making change (Barack Obama anyone?). DJ Clientele in his new phase of life, turning negatives into positives is what he’s all about. While back in the day he had his runs in the streets his objective now is to put Boston hip-hop scene on the forefront. Real recognizes real and now that he’s clean, next up for him is holding down the Bean.

Sixshot.com: You call yourself DJ Clientele so speaking in you’re connects why do a lot of artist like you?

DJ Clientele: Because of my street credentials my man, that’s why they fuck with me. That’s what I did and that’s why they fuck with me.

Sixshot.com: So if you don’t mind let the public know what you are and where you come from?

DJ Clientele: I’m come from the grind man, just a straight up dude. I got a history and just working on turning the negatives into a positive man.

Sixshot.com: So what’s good with your grind in Boston?

DJ Clientele: I feel very confident about the Boston hip-hop scene, it’s a lot going on. It’s a lot of dudes grinding and it’s a lot of people that’s gonna come out here man.

Sixshot.com: Throw out some names?

DJ Clientele: In the bean we got a lot of dudes out here man. I fucks with Statik Selektah, Frankie Wainewright, and Smoke Bulger. It’s a lot of artist I can’t even name all of them off the top of the head man.

Sixshot.com: What about Dre Robinson?

DJ Clientele: Yeah Dre is one of the nicest too, he’s getting it in. Dre is indeed one of the nicest out here. Word up he’s definitely got skills man.

Sixshot.com: So I see Boston gonna have some dudes putting the streets on smash?

DJ Clientele: Oh definitely, we winning in everything. We basketballin hard, baseballin hard, footballin hard, and now we gonna rap hard. We the city of champions.

Sixshot.com: So where does DJ Clientele gets the idea he wants to be a hip-hop DJ?

DJ Clientele: It’s just the love for this man, I got a passion for this. My name clientele that’s from the streets for real, I just keep and just tryna switch the game though.

Sixshot.com: So Clientele comes from you putting in that work?

DJ Clientele: Niggas know from state to state man, I was a hot nigga. I was on the run in my life for a while man. From different state to state I met a lot of artists.

Sixshot.com: I understand you had a street life and went through a lot of things. I like to know though what made you put an end to it to do it big in the industry?

DJ Clientele: Because niggas was getting bagged and it was too hot man [laughs].  You can make this money, but it don’t necessarily have to be negative man. We can make things turn into a positive you know. I really got into this music shit listening to Planet Rock and Sugar Hill shit, remember that Q? That’s old school shit, my older brother used to listen to that shit and that’s when I first started listening to shit. Then that movie Wild Style came out and niggas just started going crazy. As I got older I started listening to a lot of cats like Steady B, I was young man and it was good.

In the mid 90’s niggas was banging all that shit man. As I got older and the streets got involved I just switched up on making money man. It was a situation that happened to me when I got locked up and had an escape charge my nigga. I ended up being one of the ten most wanted in my city my nigga and I was hot. I did stay in contact with niggas, some blew, some did, but to make a long story short I went through it. Shout out to Crime Family in Philly, because they took me in like family. They understood my situation and I understood theirs so real recognize real. I love this music though bro, I got a passion for it and I’m ready to do it.

Sixshot.com: Do you right now feel that the market is too oversaturated these days?

DJ Clientele: Of course, it is. It’s too much garbage and we need the real stuff back. What you think I’m here for, I gotta put my foot down. I’m a put Boston on the map, that’s my hometown I love the Bean. I also fucks with my crew in Philly Crime Family hard, they real niggas and I fucks with any nigga that got street credentials. All the rappers I fuck with got street credentials. Ransom, Max B, they all got street credentials, this is a strategy to be next. They know I got street credentials too. This is a strategy to put my niggas on that ya’ll don’t know yet. I fuck with a lot of niggas in the Beantown, shout out to Franky Wainewright. Aside from that if I deal with you, you gotta be able to rap man. Put ya bars together right, but I can’t help you with that [laughs]. I do this for the love first and then take the chips.
