There aren’t too many artists like Necro in hip-hop. He mixes rap with heavy metal. He raps about Charles Manson. He’s made over a million dollars as an independent artist. And did I mention he’s a Jewish kid from Brooklyn? Necro is truly one of a kind and since he stepped on the hip-hop scene he’s been breaking boundaries left and right.

Never one to follow a hit-making formula or follow trends he delivers real hip-hop in it’s rawest and purest form. With his die-hard fan base and accomplishments in music he is truly the definition of an underground legend. You may never see him on the cover of XXL but you can bet then when you buy a Necro CD you’re going to be getting that real hip-hop.

Sixshot.com caught up with Necro to discuss why he wore a Charles Manson t-shirt to the DMC battle, how he made himself a recognizable name, and what he does to groupies in Europe.

Sixshot.Com: Sup man, what's good?

Necro: I’m chillin’ man, just grindin’.

Sixshot.Com: So as a kid, you were into rock and rap, why do you think you ended up being a rapper and not in a metal band?

Necro: The metal community was sleeping at the time so I felt I had more of a chance in hip-hop plus I was always attracted to the lyrics and beats.

Sixshot .Com: Who were some of your musical influences?

Necro: All the legendary hip-hop and metal shit from Metallica to KRS-One to Slayer.

Sixshot.Com: Your fan base is so strong and loyal, that's hard to get today, why do you think you have that

Necro: I’m true to my shit man. I rep my shit in the flesh. I stay hardcore even when everyone else has gone soft to try and sell records. I just do what I love and it works out.

Sixshot.Com: Why did you get into hustling as a kid?

Necro: I wanted money. I needed money because my family was poor so it was either work at Waldbaum’s for minimum wage or sell drugs.

Sixshot.Com: What made you stop and decide to pursue music?

Necro: I started getting paid three thousand a beat and it seemed more profitable than all that work selling drugs. Plus I was smart and knew it was legal to sell beats and there was a future in it. Also, I loved music but I didn’t love selling drugs.

Sixshot.Com: You rap a lot about death and gore, why is that?

Necro: I release aggression through my music. The pain of the world is in my lyrics. I channel it through my music. Call it therapy.

Sixshot.Com: Why did you decide to start Psycho+Logical Records?

Necro: I wanted to release my music. I had no choice and Master P was a huge influence on me in terms of running your own label and being an entrepreneur.

Sixshot.Com: You're a serious businessman, is it true you were moving units before you had distribution? How did you pull that off?

Necro: I had kids selling shit for me, fans. I would send them product and let them sell it for a profit. I had like a hundred kids all over the world then I started fucking with a few stores and some online sites and then I got with Landspeed distribution.

Sixshot.Com: You're a veteran, how do you feel about the rap music that's being made today?

Necro: I don’t like it and I can’t say I’m a fan of the music. I like real lyricism where a dude takes a few hours to write his verse. I like something ill with a dope beat not some generic shit but some ill shit. My mind is dusted. I like 1970’s dusted shit.

Sixshot.Com: Do you find that a lot of kids that normally wouldn't be into rap are into your music?

Necro: I come across some because I have pushed my shit to the metal world so I have gained some of those fans but not nearly as much as I should have for the amount of promo that I did in that world.

Sixshot.Com: What made you wear a Charles Manson shirt to the DMC battle?

Necro: I was young and I didn’t give a fuck. I knew I was hip-hop but I didn’t like kissing ass. I was on some Necro shit and back then I was into the serial killer shit. It wasn’t a common thing. It was rare and it was an angle I could flip because I was thugged out with designs in my head and dope kicks. It ended up backfiring on me but hey it was a lesson learned. At the same time I still rock Manson up to my new album. He is the most famous murderer maybe in history and when I exploit him it’s just that, exploitation. He paid the price for being that goon with a lot of jail time so I just like to show people different angles and he represents a fucked up side of society.

Sixshot.Com: You perform a lot, any favorite spots?

Necro: Not really, I judge shit more on how the show goes. If the show goes good then it’s a good spot. I have done some of the same spots a few times and sometimes the show wasn’t the same depending on the draw and day of the week so I have to say I love my fans everywhere as long as they support. I enjoy London, Toronto, Los Angeles, NYC, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, all of it and I love the women there too.

Sixshot.Com: A lot of people want to know, can you make a good living as an independent artist?

Necro: I haven’t worked for another boss since I was 17. I started PLR when I was 23 so yeah you can live off hip-hop. I’m not even super rich because all my money has gone into the label but I have always brought in enough money for rent, great food, dope gear and anything else I needed as well as fully funding my label and the promotional quest to blow Necro up. I must have put a million dollars into my career from money I generated myself. Yes, I could have put that in the bank but I would also be less known. In some ways, Necro is known like a small time major label artist who has sold like 100k or 200k because people know me but I never sold that much so I just need to keep building my indie thing to the next level.

Sixshot.Com: How was the response to Death Rap?

Necro: The response has been good. Kids seem to love it. All my shows have sold out since dropping it and the kids are pitting hard to the tracks and MySpace is pumping hard with plays. The record is outselling my comp in the worst period in history for selling records so shit is decent but far from where I want it to be though.

Sixshot.Com: I know you have some crazy fan stories, can we get one?

Necro: I was fucking this groupie in some Euro country and she fainted in the middle of me fucking her. (Laughs) She drank too much I guess and she fucking fainted and fell to the floor. I was like, “Huh? Get up, what the fuck?” She was just drooling from her mouth so I busted a nut on her head because I had my dick out already and I was close to coming so it would have been a real waste not to do it. She pulls up her pants and starts puking all over the place. I call in my tour manager to help her and he grabs her by her hair full of cum and I walk out laughing. (Laughs) The girl was fine in the end after drinking some coffee or tea. Who the fuck knows what she was on? Say no to drugs children!

Sixshot.Com: What projects do you have coming up?

Necro: A lot of shit but until I confirm everything I don’t want to announce it. I plan on flooding the market with new PLR releases, a ton of new Necro shit, as well as all my peoples and new groups. I’m about to shake shit up once again and this time shit will be next level again.

Sixshot.Com: Anything you'd like to say to the fans at Sixshot.Com?

Necro: Yeah thanks for the support and stay true to the game. Necro has always been true to the game and shit won’t stop. I’m about to destroy you all again
