It’s a sad time folks and not just for the hip-hop community but for everybody. A man who lifted himself from a life of poverty through his wonderful ability to bring joy to others has recently passed away. He was and is a legend, a man amongst men, and a man of the people. That man is comic genius, Bernie Mac.

Upon hearing the news last week, the first thing that came to my mind was the old adage and Billy Joel song, “Only the Good Die Young” because Mr. Bernie Mac was just that and his death at the young age of only 50 years old can only be classified as an utter tragedy. Bernie’s rise to fame is a testament to his work ethic and only a man of true morals and strength could have endured the worst of the worst to become the best. It was the small things about Bernie that made him special as a performer.

His “old school” sensibility was a throwback to a better time, a time when a man could go on stage in perfectly tailored slacks, a custom made shirt, and while looking like a million bucks, made whole crowds of people feel like a million bucks by providing what many refer to as the best medicine there is, laughter. From his days at Def Comedy Jam to him being on of the Kings of Comedy it was easy to see that no matter what the forum, Bernie Mac was there to put on a show.

Due to that dedic ation it was only a matter of time before Bernie Mac’s talents led him off the stage as he starred in his own critically acclaimed program The Bernie Mac Show as well as the wildly successful Ocean’s series where he co-starred along side the likes of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Andy Garcia. He left behind a wonderful legacy and we at Sixshot.com would like to extend out deepest condolences to the Mac family. He was an inspiration and a hero who will be missed.
