Back in January of this year, Mass Appeal featured Laura Dore—a Southern Belle from Texas who happens to be a fan of 1980’s horror movies. In the months that have passed, she’s done nothing besides being featured in Black Men’s Magazine, along with making her way to cover girl for the upcoming issue of Show Magazine. And now the sometimes-shy beauty with more ethnicities in her family than you can shake a stick at comes back to further discuss her time spent in the “biz” and before you ask…yup she’s still single.
So what’s your nationality?
I’m Brazilian, Italian, African-American, Puerto Rican, French, and Polish…
You have a lot going on there! [Laughs] Is there any one side you like more than the other?
Yeah. On my dad’s side, it’s African-American and Brazilian, and on my mom’s side the majority is white with a small side of Puerto Rican.
How’s the modeling business been for you thus far?
Everything has been really good so far; I haven’t hit any bumps in the road. So I can’t complain much. Hopefully things will continue to go well for me in the future.
Right now you’re being featured in the new issue of Show Magazine. How did you get the opportunity?
I had met the person behind it, and he saw my pictures and offered me a chance to have my own spread. So
it was basically an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.
Do you have any funny/horror stories about being on photo shoots?
Um, I have a lot of funny stories but I can’t tell you, because then a lot of people would be very mad at me. [Laughing]
[Laughs] Has your career brought you too any exotic places for work yet?
So far I’ve only been to the Bahamas, which was very beautiful—I went there when I shot for Black Men’s Magazine. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a little more traveling in the near future, that’s one of the best perks of the job.
What’s your biggest attribute as model?
I think my biggest attribute is my work ethic, and the fact that I love raisins. [Laughing]
[Laughing] What’s your favorite part of your body?
I would have to go with my eyes…
Do you ever get nervous when shooting some of the more exotic pictures?
Yeah, I do get very shy. The first time I shot for Show [Magazine], I was seeing what I was going to wear, and then I immediately wanted to put my clothes on. Then they were like, “We’re about to shoot,” and I said, “I can’t walk around without my clothes on!” [Laughs] So the stylist ended up lending me her jacket to wear until we were done shooting. [Laughing]
So how does your family think about you posing half naked?
Well as long as I’m not completely naked, they’re okay with it. Also as long as I’m not topless, or doing raunchy things, they’re pretty cool with what I’m doing.
Do you find it difficult staying disciplined, and keeping in shape?
Not really because I’ve been training for about four years now, and I really like working out. When I’m working out, it feels so relaxing to me.
Last time we spoke, you were single. Is that still the case?
Yup, it sure is…
And that’s still by choice, correct?
Yeah, it’s still by choice…
Suppose you were looking for a guy, what’s the best way for him to win your heart?
He would have to be funny, smart, and somehow be able to keep my interest. [Laughing] And that’s always hard… [Laughs]
[Laughs] What do you find sexy about a man?
I find height to be very sexy on a man; he has to be tall. I’m 5’6”, so I would really prefer man that was a lot taller than that. [Laughs]
