If anyone has had a career come full circle, then it has to be Common (formerly known as Sense). Sorry, just had to throw that in there. [Laughing] But seriously, he went from a beer guzzling weed smoker, to someone that was declared crazy by the Hip-Hop community with everyone pointing the finger at Ms. Erykah Badu for his downfall.

During his brief out-of-body experience, the vegan and animal lover graced us with his sheepskin pants and wool scarves in the summer time. And just like his 1994 album Resurrection, he resurrected himself out of Hip-Hop obscurity, hired a stylist (thank God), and sold over a million copies combined for both his Be and Finding Forever albums.

One of the songs from his Finding Forever album that I can’t stop listening to even though it’s been out for almost a year already is "U, Black Maybe" (feat. Bilal). And the reason why it’s still on heavy rotation is because it’s one of the greatest songs ever. If you haven’t heard it, (and shame on you if you didn’t), then here’s your chance now:

I heard a white man’s yes is a black maybe/
I was delivered in this world as a crack baby/
Hard for me to pay attention, and I act crazy/
Gotta get over from the tip, I watch the fat lady/
Sing a song, of how we guerill as in warfare/
And I’m the King that’s Kong, they say we dreamin’ wrong/
Them same strips that the older cats lingered on/
Now the Walgreens is gone, hope is killed fiends are born/
We leanin’ on a wall that ain’t—that ain’t stable/
It’s hard to turn on the ‘hood that made you/
To leave, we afraid to, the same streets that raised you, can age you/
But other black birds is caged too/
A rage up in Harlem and the Southside/
Brothas is starvin’ with their mouth wide open, floatin’ across state/
Got the workout plan, so they can move weight/
The fate of the black man, woman, and child/(maybe)
